Liked: Such a great place to stay. It's in the middle of a spanish quarter which makes it so authentic and cute. Great people around! You really can see the sea from some of the windows! We just loved the atmosphere around... Also good connections with busses... Would go there again!

Liked: Charming hostel with very friendly people. It's not five star hotel, but very charming low cost hostel! We had very nice stay. Some problems with hot water, but it didn't bother too much anyway.

Liked: It was a nice friendly stay, in a quiet district with many restaurants and bars close by, not to mention nice beaches. Good infrastructure, buses go to Magaluf and to Palma frequently and quickly. The hostel has a nice atmosphere, good dinners and not badly priced.

Liked: The (big, quite old) building, once a handsome house, has real character, and the very pleasant gardens, terrace and pool are an added bonus in a city location. Although a fair way out from the centre, there is an excellent bus route within 2 minutes which gives access to Palma's centre and stops right by the transport interchange for (excellent) cross-island buses, the airport, the 'old train' to Soller - recommended! - and the main train station. The atmosphere is indeed relaxed, with a wide variety of people passing through, as well a number of local/British 'regulars' who seem to use it as social base. Breakfast buffets are excellent, and can be taken on the terrace or in the dining room, and the evening meals on offer, from a restricted but good-value menu, are satisfying and well prepared. The rooms (I had a single) are pretty sparse, and might put off someone not accustomed to 'hostal'-type accommodation, but they are well-serviced and very clean, if a little shabby. The 3 internet points are very useful. Maintainance of such a property could be a nightmare, but the current owners have done much to give the 'Mimosa' warmth and character, and - it is said - they plan to do quite a lot of upgrading during the winter. I would certainly return, as it is good value for a city base and is just that bit 'different'. The bar is a welcoming place to return to after a day out, and there are in fact 2 or 3 excellent little beach coves tucked away down from the main coast road, not far away, where you can swim, relax and get refreshments. This traveller is 63, and didn't feel at all out of place! Recommended.
