Liked: the location was AMAZING...right in the heart of the city....room was very nice with a lovely small balcony overlooking the street...once u closed the door no noise came in at all from the street...wonderful place

Liked: Location is amazing right near Peurto de Sol. I had a single room that was basically a sturio apartment with my own kitchen, study, bedroom and bathroom. Amazing value

Liked: It is very well located in the heart of Sol in Madrid Great area for shopping, bars and restaurants.Reasonable price for accommodation have stayed here 5 times so far as I feel they will always try to accommodate the nights stay you require where possible.

Disliked: The only thing I dislike is they do not have an elevator up to the first floor of the Hostal.When trying to carry a heavy suitcase up wooden stairs after traveling and tiered to and from the Hostal it is rather difficult to struggle up the stairs. If they were to have an elevator then all would be perfect.

Liked: The room was fairly big (for four) and great value for money. The room was clean, felt secure and the air-con worked well. Fantastic location near to Sol, the metro and walking distance to Plaza Mayor.

Disliked: The only real downside was noise from being at the front by the street (although most rooms looked like being away from this). Also, the temperature in the shower tended to fluctuate between pretty hot and cool.

Liked: Jose, the chap working on reception in the nights, is very friendly and helpful.The room was decent for the price, if a little small.The location was excellent and our room, not facing the street, was quiet.

Disliked: The room did have a strong smell of stale smoke when we arrived. Over the stay it became less and less obvious. In all fairness we didn't complain about it so it's not clear what would have been done had we done so. As a suggestion it would be good if you could specify a non-smoking room when booking through Hostelbookers (if this isn't already possible!) Also, although the bedding and bathroom were clean, the floor under the beds was quite dusty. Our room was also a little small, and there was not much space to spread out our belongings.
