Liked: The staff were extremely helpful! One of the staff members didn't speak English, and my Spanish wasn't sufficient for what I needed, ao he got google translate to try and figure out what I needed. They provided one of the best connections for activities and walking tours, making Madrid even easier to be immersed in.

Disliked: The temperature regulation in our room wasn't amazing. The heater was always on, even when it was already hot.

Liked: It's literally a 12 minute walk from kilometer zero (Madrid's exact centre, or if you're feeling lazy, a 5 minute walk to Metro Opera, which is a stop away from the city centre). Everything is withing a walking distance. And there's a great view of the Madrid sunset over Palacio de Real Madrid right at the North-West corner of the building.

Disliked: There's just one hot plate for everyone in the entire hostel to share (so cooking is slow and inefficient). There's just one fridge, so it's completely full to the extent that it probably isn't keeping anything cool anymore.

Liked: The location is pretty good. An easy walk to the main streets, close to supermarkets, places to eat, shops and next door to Palacio Real and Catedral De La Almudena. The hostel was quite clean, you see a lady wondering around cooking and cleaning nearly all the time.

Disliked: This place is quite different to other hostels I have stayed at in my three months of travelling. The hostel is run by older locals, not young previous travellers which makes a difference! They weren't very welcoming and did not provide any information about Madrid, what to do places to go etc. You have to pay in cash unless you are paying over €50 which is bloody inconvenient. There isn't really a communal area, the only spots to meet people are in the little section around reception with some chairs and a TV which is in Spanish or the kitchen. Showering here involves little privacy! It is set up as a room with three showers which have glass doors that face out into the area where everyone goes to wash their hands after using the toilet. There are some stickers on the doors so there is some privacy but there is nothing like showering whilst you can see other people walking around. This set up means you get undressed in the area where the hand basin is before getting into the shower. There is another female shower elsewhere which can be considered more private or rooms which have their own bathrooms may have a different set up. There are also restrictions on when you can use the showers. These are from 7:30am to 11:30pm, and there are also restrictions on when you can use the kitchen. Another inconvenience with the showers is that the water continuosly turns off - so you are getting less than a minute of water before you have to push the button to turn the water back on. Similar situation with the toilets in that the light turns off whilst you are in there. They do say they have a luggage room but it is only free untill 1:00pm and from then on it cost €3. Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again, there was no atmosphere, there were a lot of older people which didn't really suit me being a young solo backpacker looking to meet other young backpackers. If you just want a bed in a central location then this will suit you.

Liked: This was my first ever stay in a hostel and I thought it was fine. The rooms were clean, comfortable beds and the bathrooms were clean. It was in a great location to walk to many of the main sights, bars, cafes, supermarket etc. Staff were awesome and took us out and partied with us which was great fun. I was traveling alone and really easy to meet people there, with big paella and sangria dinner as a hostel - and it was delicious!!

Disliked: Wifi was not great and kept dropping out, that was the only downside but I would still stay there again.
