Liked: Good location, very close to the metro station.

Disliked: I don't smoke and I didn't like the smell of the cigarettes in the room. Had to keep my window open all the time.

Liked: Very clean and comfortable. Very good quality for the price. Friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: On a major road, so a bit noisy at night if you have a room at the front.

Liked: Close to the tube and main part of town, clean

Disliked: Staff couldn't speak English therefore couldn't provide us with any information about Madrid. We were given the wrong address and ended up at another rivera branch- no one could speak English and took us ages to find out where we should be going. Was meant to be 24 hours but were greeted by a granny in her dressing gown and she was still in it at 11am the next morning. Was like staying in someones house.

Liked: Nice location, decent price.

Disliked: The owners don't speak English and were not the most patient with our rusty Spanish. The rooms on the street are very loud at night. Although the rest of it was fairly clean, the floors were a little dirty. Very bad for meeting people.

Liked: We liked the location, size and cleanliness of the room.

Disliked: Noise. Our room faced onto Atocha Street and just about every night it was noisy outside until the early hours making this location not a good place for a reliable night's sleep (this was an issue as we stayed for nearly a week). Payment. Balance must be paid in cash!! This needs to be promoted by Rivera on their advertisement as they take your passport and hold it until you pay the balance. I didn't like being without my passport for the five minutes that it took to run across the road to the ATM!

Liked: - The private room.- Feels like your staying with your grandparents minus the curfew.- Walking distance from many of the sites in Madrid.- Cleaned daily

Disliked: - No microwave but we were still assisted in heating the food in a different way.

Liked: It was pretty safe to stay n also quite near to city area,its like a hotel to me.

Disliked: Not dislike but only that owner are old citizens and doesnt really speak english,so we have hard time communicating with them. But its pretty nice place like own private corner.

Liked: I like the fact that it offers private rooms for solo travellers and additionally with your own private bathroom. I was very fortunate to get a tv, an A/C and my own balcony with a view of the buzzing city! These are absolute perks as most hostals face some lonely courtyard and most are dorms with shared bathrooms. The room gets cleaned every single day with fresh towels and the lady who maintains the room is an absolute sweetheart. The older female caretaker is also very accomodating allowing you to leave your luggage after you sign out so you can still roam the city if you have time to spare. The location is prime since it's not right at the centre but very close to the metro, pastry/ coffee shops and supermercados as well as great tapas and jazz bars. I would definitely recommend this place as it is very reasonable with a lot to offer. Thanks Hostelbookers for doing the research! And I really like the virtual picture on the Google map- it was so helpful as a reference.

Disliked: Oftentimes you can hear doors being slammed, occasional conversations going on and smell 2nd hand smoke. They should put a sign to remind travellers to close the doors gently- it's really very easy and possibly to adopt a non-smoking environment.

Liked: It was a nice place to stay, good location, main interest are within walking distance. The room was clean, and was kept clean every day, wifi was also ok.

Disliked: Only weak point was that the walls are extremely thin, so if you get some even moderately loud neighbors, it can be uncomfortable.

Liked: We liked the location a lot, since everything was in a walking distance. There were also many pubs and tavernas close.

Disliked: When we were packing our staff we noticed that a bra was missing. Staff was saying that for sure we lost it or threw it away?!? Considering that the bra was quite new and really nice, we believe that cleaning lady might have steal it - however we don't have a proof. It was bad experience because staff didn't want to do anything about it.

Liked: The room was quite good, not too bright but still cosy and very clean. The location is also ok, 10 minutes walk from the Atocha railway station and the same from Plaza Mayor. Nice variety of cafeterías with cheap breakfasts and panaderías with awesome pastry in the neighborhood. Both the manager and his mother seemed kind and welcoming, although the old lady was a bit fussy at the first sight. We didn't ask for any recommendations concerning sightseeing or local tapas because we had already been in Madrid but the hosts were really eager to help.

Liked: Great location, walking distance to all the sights, and the excellent Retiro Park.Perfect for people on a budget.We had a very quiet and clean room overlooking the inner courtyard. Had a great time here and saved loads of money! Excellent value for money and would definitely return here.
