The check-in process was a bit strange -- we were told to checkin at a different location, only to go to Sudamericana on Paseo del Prado to actually check in, then went back to the original location! We actually didn't stay on Paseo del Prado, but the location was great nonetheless. Hostel is very safe and clean.

The attitude of the stuff was little bit weird and also as the place of check-in was mentioned some other place where were nobody?! "Nice experience" when you're in the unknown city with suitcases and you cannot find at what place could you make your check-in. Another note: This is not a typical hostel, its a big flat with some rooms for travellers - but in Spain is this thing in common...

We were moved to another hostal on Lope de Vega, which was still very central, and had a friendly manager (although no English spoken). Only one toilet and shower to share between a number of rooms though, so there was some waiting to go to the loo which was a pain. Cheap though.

The location of the property was fantasic - right next to the city centre, metro and all the sights etc. Also, the freedom it allowed you to come and go as you pleased without curfew, interference or general aggravation was useful: in that, you were given keys (there's no reception) and, thereafter, almost treat your room as something more like a private residence - a flat or something - as opposed to an actual hostel room. The facilities were basic (to say the least); a shower, toilet, sink, electricity mains, wardrobe, desk and bed are what you pay for.... nothing additional or complementary to include in that.

Good place to stay for cheap, but very little to offer besides that. There were no outlets in the room I stayed in or the common bathroom, but otherwise no complaints.

the room was iin a very strategic point of the city, near the center and near the most important museum (prado, reina sofia e thyssen). from the airport is easy to arrive by metro.

Although at first it was a little tricky to make ourselfs clear (the woman at the desk only spoke Spanish), later on they where very friendly. I would recommend this place. The location is wonderful, in the hart of the city, but still at a very quit, romantic street. And the fact that you at first have to struggle with their language shouldn't hold you back. After all, it's Spain, it's like that everywhere. They just don't like other languages :p

We basically had a private room, though we were in a different building than reception. One of the staff members, who spoke no english was very rude, but everyone else was very nice. There was no toilet paper, though and we ended up buying our own...
