Liked: There is a free Wi-Fi which is important! Great place to meet people in the kitchen and make a nice tapas together. Staff was always smiley and helpful.

Disliked: Ok, not all the travellers are nice....

Liked: This place is amazing! By far the best hostel I've stayed at on my travels. The second I walked in I felt immediately welcome, and they gave me an upgrade for the room I went in to, without me even asking! All of the facilities were so clean, everything from the bathrooms to the floors to the kitchen.

Disliked: The bathrooms are shared and the common areas are very small for the amount of people staying.

Liked: Rien. Cette auberge a complètement gacher mon séjour.

Disliked: Tout. Cette auberge nous a gâché le séjour, SURTOUT N'Y ALLER PAS. Nous sommes arrivés à Madrid après 9h de route afin de passer trois jours de visites et de fêtes avec des amis. J'avais réservé deux mois à l'avance pour cela. En arrivant, ils nous ont dit que notre réservation était annulée et que j'avais soit disant reçu un mail. Chose qui après plusieurs vérifications c'est révélée fausse. Pendant trois heures nous avons négocié avec l'accueil qui n'était pas le responsable de l'établissement et qui a quand même fini par nous annoncer qu'il restait 5 places pour la nuit mais que pour les autres jours ce n'étaient pas sur. On prévoyait déjà de dormir à 5 dans la voiture. L'euphorie de l'arrivée était largement retombée. Le lendemain on a du faire le check out et attendre de nouveau et négocier afin de savoir si ils avaient des places pour nous. Et ça tous les jours jusqu'a la fin de notre séjour. Entre temps nous avons bien essayé d'appeler d'autre auberge mais étant en période de fête tout était plein et les hotels vraiment trop chers. Nous avons donc stressé et été énervé tout le séjour. En plus Il n'y avait pas d'ambiance à l'auberge, ils ne nous laissaient rien faire, il n'y même pas de salle commune ou de musique ou des propositions de visites ou de sorties. Le staff n'était pas très accueillant à part une ou deux personnes qui ont daigné nous parler. Je n'ai biensur pas été remboursé de l'avance faite pour la réservation. Bref une Horreur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sans compter le peu de matériel dans la cuisine, le manque de propreté, pas de sécurité, pas de casiers, ... La totale.

Liked: Excellent location, very cheap, very clean, beautiful building, well refurbished. For all my criticism, and please do heed the 11am kick out rule if you plan to go out late in Madrid, it was good value for money.

Disliked: They kick you out at 11am for 'cleaning' but as far I we could discern 'cleaning' takes about 15 minutes and could easily be done at a time more convenient to customers. The staff were generally friendly, but inflexible and argumentative, and they did not keep their promises (we returned on day 2 to find the door had been removed from our room..they did not replace it even though they said they would). Stairwell smells of sewage, at times to the extent that it is hard to breathe. There are very few bathrooms per customer (two tiny bathrooms between two rooms of six and a large dorm on our floor) which is very inconvenient if you want to shower before you get chucked out at 11am. It was always either boiling hot or freezing cold. The wristbands they gave us fell off pretty quickly and also never got checked. The door to Gran Via was often left open.

Liked: The building the hostel is in is fantastic. We had a balcony off our room with a great view of Gran Via and the whole place has an "old" feel to it. The location is perfect for getting around the city as it is very central and right next to a metro as well as other services. Lastly, but certainly not least, the price is great and as far as I could find could not be beat.

Disliked: I HATED their policy that everyone must leave from 11-2 for "cleaning." Considering the hostel looked the same when I returned it was difficult to determine what exactly they were "cleaning" for 3 hours. It is especially difficult on Saturdays and Sundays as many people stay out late the night before. Furthermore, the wristbands they require you to wear are not necessary nor is the 10 euro deposit for the key.

Liked: We enjoyed our time at the hostel. The place is not quite as nice as the photos (obviously) but its clean, the staff is helpful, the place is lively (but the rooms are still quiet) and the price is very reasonable. Overall we recommend it.
