Liked: Personal belongings felt secure. Good breakfast and location.

Disliked: The community bathrooms were supposed to be divided by gender but there were several times we saw someone of the opposite sex in our bathroom. They didn't regulate night noise very consistently. The first night people were extremely loud all night into the late morning. The second night, we walked in around 1am from dinner and we were attacked by the man at the front desk to go upstairs quickly and quietly. We wished there were more consistency.

Liked: good location and u can meet lots of people there. my room is all girls, I like that like a female room.

Disliked: the room is crowded and has no window. the facilities in the bathroom is not so good. u have to press the button to keep the water on during the shower.And u have to put the clothes outside the shower room.

Liked: Ok this hostel is central and the building is very nice

Disliked: BUT the rooms are small and smelly the bathrooms are disgusting : they are really small , you have to press for water every 10 seconds, plus it doesn't seem clean it doesn't have a kitchen for the guests and the breakfast is ridiculously small they describe themselves as a party hostel, didn't see much partying during my one night stay

Liked: The Hostel is really cool to hang out in, and there are plenty of other students to make friends with.

Disliked: The bathrooms smelled pretty bad and the showers were rather inconvenient because you have to constantly press a button for the water to come.

Liked: The building itself was beautiful, and because it was a big hostel with small common spaces, it was great for meeting people. The small free breakfast was a nice touch.

Disliked: The staff leading the pub crawl were rude and obnoxious and the digital keys were also super annoying.

Liked: The old building was amazing. I loved the chill out area. Location was good close enough to the centre and all attractiOns

Disliked: I was put in the attic room. So many stairs I didn't even bother to carry my case up and left it in the storage room instead.. An bit of an inconvenience. Also the rooms were massive with so many beds so very noisy at night. They also should look into putting hooks in the showers

Liked: Everything! Air conditioning, hair dryer, free breakfast, locker (with lock), secure luggage room, bar (with cheap, yet delicious drinks), and I could continue! I have stayed in numerous hostals throughout Madrid, and Cat's Hostal is by far my favorite. I would never stay anywhere else in Madrid. Central to everything! Friendly staff. The perfect place to meet new people! Definitely recommend!!!

Liked: Incredibly vibrant atmosphere with loads of people enjoying themselves, which made it feel more like a party than a hostel! The dorm we stayed in was clean and tidy, with big and safe lockers. Staff were helpful, and having 24hr reception was brilliant for us, leaving at 5am. Free wifi more or less everywhere.

Disliked: Bathrooms (toilets and shower rooms) were a bit dirty and smelled pretty bad in general. Wifi wasn't consistent for us - often dropping out.

Liked: The hostel inside is REALLY beautiful. It is a Moorish styled castle. I apprehensive about staying in this hostel because of some of the bad reviews. Really, there is nothing to worry about. The receptionists are normal and nice. And as for cleanliness, its a HOSTEL. You can't expect a 5 star hotel. The cleanliness is on average with the other hostels I stayed at. I suggest this hostel, it's a great location.

Disliked: Breakfast could be a bit better. They restrict to 1 croissant/person. And not everyone likes cereal. Also, the check-in process was brutal. It took us about an hour to wait for the long lineup. They should organize it better or have more receptionists working at peak check-in times. Apart from that, it's a great hostel and I recommend staying there. Don't be afraid of the stupid reviews. Maybe someone had a bad experience with the receptionist because they asked a STUPID question like I have seen some people do... "So what should I do in Madrid?" lol

Liked: I have stayed at this hostel and its partner MAD hostel several times. The hostel has a great look, great atmosphere, great facilities. A fun place to stay in madrid generally.

Disliked: Though I have stayed at the hostel a few times in the past, a couple of things ruined the stay this time. Firstly, there were cpnstruction works going on from 8am IN THE MORNING which woke me up. Secondly, I was slightly concerned with the safety of the bad storage facality after one has checked out; I noticed when I went to collect my bag that though they looked to see if I had a ticket for the storage, they did not check it at all closely. They didn't check whether it was a legitimate ticket nor what number I had and they just left me by myself in the storage room so I could have walked out with any bags. If I remember correctly, the ticket may have just been a number written on a blank piece of paper so very easy to copy, but I may be wrong about that.

Liked: We chose this hostel because of it's location, but we weren't disappointed with it's other benefits. The rooms were air conditioned, which was perfect, plus the interior of the hostel was beautiful. The hostel felt very safe with it's electronic key system and, as it's tucked away from the main street, you don't hear any noise at night whatsoever. A small miracle in Madrid!

Disliked: The only small dislike was the bathrooms. The shower was difficult to manage as you constantly had to keep pressing the button for water and the cubicles were tiny. Furthermore, you cannot throw toilet paper down the toilet, but have to dispense it into a bin. Needless to say, the bathrooms did not smell of roses.

Liked: It is a beautiful building and the location is perfect. Within walking distance of all the major sights in town, and in the middle of the nightlife.

Liked: A free locker in your room with key (something every hostel should have!). Tiny, but powerful showers. Free internet. You don't have to leave your room during the day.

Disliked: well, not very important, but the computers are in the bar, so very, very noisy in the evening
