Liked: great staff, great location, very safe. it was the perfect stay in Madrid

Disliked: Not a place one looks to meet people, but we weren't trying to do that so it didn't matter

Liked: The location was very convient being so close to the Sol metro stop. Excellent if you want to explore old Madrid. Staff was very friendly, and helpful. They tried to speak English to us, and we tried to speak Spanish to them; communication was not a problem at all. They upgraded us from a double room to a double room aptartment free of charge. Room was clean, and cozy. Ammenities included telephone, stove, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, t.v., kitchen table, and elevator; all you could ask for!

Disliked: Only two minor things that I noticed. The shower had some black mold in some of the grout, and beneath the shower doors, and the drying rack for clothes wouldn't stand on it's own, had to prop it up using the kitchen stools.

Disliked: Hostel Madrid's bathroom is a bit small

Liked: This hostel was amazing in every sense of the word. I traveled with 2 other people and when we arrived we were told that they upgraded us to a full 6 person apartment at no extra charge. The apartment was beautiful, spacious, clean, fully furnished (plus a stocked kitchen), and there were 2 terraces looking out onto the city! The staff was friendly and helpful too. Honestly I could just go on and on about what an amazing experience we had!

Disliked: NOTHING!

Liked: I loved the location and staff, always very helpful and with a smile on their face. We were offered a better room that the one from the reservation: an apartment with a kitchen, 3 rooms and 2 showers with a terrace with a view to calle mayor! Very very good choice for the money

Disliked: Nothing really. The smaller room of the apartment was a bit cold (near the terrace).

Liked: Excellent location right by the Puerta del Sol. Lots of bars and restaurants near by, but still not particularly noisy at night.

Liked: the staff are amazing. so helpful, friendly, and were happy to upgrade the room if the superior room was not being used the evening we were there! best location in madrid. quite literally a 5 minute walk to everything you want to see. easy to find when getting train in from airport.

Disliked: shower was small and choice of temperatures was scalding or freezing. thats the only complaint i have! although if i were travelling alone i think it might be hard to meet people in this hostel.

Liked: Rooms are allocated in a separate apartment - for 2 people we had a one bedroom flat with a private kitchen and bathroom

Liked: We booked a twin and a double room for our group of four and when we arrived found out this had been upgraded to a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. This was fantastic for us as it also had a kitchen and a washing machine (anyone who has been travelling for a while as we have, searching out laundromats and handwashing things in bathroom sinks, will know what a luxury this is!!). The location was fantastic. Great value for money.

Disliked: The bathrooms had a funny smell - perhaps damp? Have experienced this in other hotels. Not enough to ruin our stay there or anything, but it was a bit pongy.

Liked: The staff was super friendly and helpful with questions. I also was upgraded to a bigger room because the room I booked was not available when I first arrived. Great experience.

Disliked: lights were very dim in the room.

Liked: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, great location at the centre of Madrid, good value for money.

Disliked: We stayed in a non-smoking room but there was an overwhelming smell of stale tobacco in the room. Maybe the room needs to be detailed to get rid of the smell as it may have been a smoking room in the past.

Liked: the location is perfect, just between Sol and PLAZA MAYOR, it's very conveniente

Liked: The location is perfect and the staff are helpful, they assisted whenever we needed Spanish translated for flights etc. And we also got upgraded to an apartment which was a bonus.

Disliked: Water pressure in the shower was terrible! But in perspective this is only a minor detail when travelling so nothing to truly dislike about the hostal.

Liked: we got an appartment with full equiped kichen, perfect location, nice stuff

Disliked: a bit old furniture an building, there is no hot water, it was cold in the room, elevator was from the last centure

Liked: Very friendly staff. Clean rooms with washrooms. Our room had a balcony where you can enjoy the nice view of the busy street (although some might complain that it can get noisy, we didn't find it to be a problem). Great location -- minutes away from Plaza de Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Sant Miguel Market.

Disliked: Nothing really. Only thing would be that a kitchen and a common room would be nice to prepare food and to meet people

Liked: The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our double room was spacious and clean with a very nice balcony. There was hot water, tv, and a convenient 24h store right next door. Safety was outstanding.

Disliked: The walls were a little thin and we could hear our neighbors but I think that is to be expected in a hostal, so it wasn't a big deal!

Liked: Just steps from the Metro, Secure location. I was upgraded to an apartment -at no extra charge-when the double room I had booked was not available. Staff spoke English but seemed to appreciate my efforts at Spanish
