Liked: It was very clean and comfortable. There were three shared bathrooms, all pleasant. There was a balcony overlooking the street in our triple room. Location was great, a bit hard to find, but it was right next to the Mercado de San Miguel, where you can eat to your heart's content, and the Plaza Mayor.

Disliked: Directions given were not sufficiently clear.

Liked: Very good location. Very cheap. Good beds. Working showers. Wifi (password posted in the hallway). Supermarkets practically next door.

Disliked: No seperate toilets or sinks, so long wait for either when others are showering, esp in the morning. No bins in the room. Met only one person of staff who spoke English. No instructions anywhere in English. No kitchen.

Liked: Perfect location in the heart of Madrid. Cheap. Room very small but it can survive. Worth a recommendation. In the immediate vicinity many pubs and 3-4 self service supermarkets. The staff could speak English better but it is a general problem in Spain.

Disliked: Double room little to small.

Family Holiday

Liked: This hostel is located on the 2nd floor of an apartment building in Madrid, just outside the city center (Plaza del Sol). It's very modern and everything is new. The bathrooms are lovely (blue tile and very spacious) and everything was clean. Our rooms looked out onto the market and street below and there were small balconies you could step out onto. The beds were VERY comfortable (even more comfortable than my bed at home!). We loved the two rooms we stayed in: a private triple and a private twin for two people. The wifi worked great. Tip: When you arrive at the building, ring the box at the top reading "Casa de la Plaza," not the little old lady in the apartment next door :)

Disliked: No complaints here!

Liked: great location, right next to a Mercado that had fresh fruits, and tapas! it was wonderful!

Disliked: it was advertised as having washing machine, but I couldn't find it. I wasn't in when the staff were so never got a chance to ask.

Liked: The location is excellent. Literally minutes from many of the major sights/areas. The building as a whole was lovely; the rooms however were a little small. This was not a problem however and there were ample shower/toilet rooms all to a good standard.

Disliked: There wasn't really anywhere to 'hang out' and/or meet others.

Liked: This hostel is a great value. The rooms are small but cozy, and modern, if a bit lacking in charm. The location can't be beat though, located right next to the Plaza Mayor, and just a few hundred meters away from the Opera metro station, all of Madrid is at your fingertips. Also, the showers are hot and powerful, there is fast wifi, and a TV in the private room (if that's your thing); always a plus.

Disliked: The staff was a little brusque, although certainly polite enough. Also, no food anywhere on the premises. And, the place doesn't have much character or social spaces. It's good for sleeping and that's about it.
