Liked: 1 minute walk from sevilla station. Free wi-fi. Very clean. Helpfull staff

Disliked: Walls must be very thin since you can ear all the noise from people passing in the halls and from other rooms.

Liked: Hostel Astoria is clean. It's situated within the city centre of Madrid and one can go for a walk, shopping or even eating out until late, because Hostel Astoria is within walking distance and a chariot after midnight is not necessary. Inside the Hostel is quiet.

Disliked: The frontal entry at street level of the building could do with a bit of paint, but it's not vital as the inside of Hostel Astoria is clean and comfortable. Persons wanting to stay at Hostel Astoria should not be put off by it's external appearance.

Liked: Brilliant location close to bars, restaurants, shops and metro. Clean room, comfy bed, good shower and very quiet.

Disliked: Hot water didnt seem to work early in the morning.

Liked: The location was excellent, right in the center of the city, accessible to most sites.

Disliked: My only 2 gripes about Hostal Astoria is that the safe is "pay-per-use". When I'm paying this much to stay here, I expect the safe to come with the price I paid, rather than having to put 1 euro every time I open and close it. The other issue is that, although they have a computer and the internet is free, it's only accessible till 11 pm. (That is, if you didn't bring your laptop..though I'm not sure if they cut off wi-fi at a certain time).

Liked: The location is the main advantage of this property. However, there are plenty of other hotels in the area which are probably better value for money.

Disliked: Upon arrival I was assigned a room with separate bathroom (across a corridor). After complaining I got assigned a different room (with private bathroom) but only for the second night of my stay. The only reason I didn't change hotel immediately is because my flight was delayed and I arrived rather late.

Liked: Good location close to shopping, night life, and tourist stuff. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was not the friendliest but that did not affect our stay.

Liked: Excellent location, walk distance to Plaza del Sol and Prado. Very clean, more hotel than hostel. I've been traveling extensively but so far this is the best hostel I've stayed. Staff very helpful, they do everything for you (reservations, tours, etc). Most of all, no noisy college kids so you can sleep peacefully at night. Highly recommended.

Liked: This was a good value for the location. Be careful of the hairdryer though - its a strange brand and took a really really long time to actually dry hair. The pictures on this site show a terrace / balcony area - that's not standard with every room. Not sure how you book those rooms specifically.

Liked: Impeccably clean!! As a solo female traveler, I always felt safe coming & going at all hours. Excellent central location near several major metro stops & within walking distance of many sights. Free Internet in lobby areas. Double with terrace features a HUGE slate terrace nearly as large as the bedroom. Awesome multi-head shower. Street & guest noise was minimal. Would definitely recommend!

Liked: Excellent location. Very easy walk to many sites and only two blocks to the metro. Quiet--couldn't hear any noise from the street. The only occasional noise was from other guests entering late.
