Liked: The staff was very friendly and showed us all of the places (both touristy and nightlife) to go to.

Disliked: Window in room didn't have a handle. Wifi worked but was a little slow.

Liked: I absolutely enjoyed my stay in HostelOne! The atmosphere is relaxing, friendly and sociable. The whole hostel is very clean and the facilities (free wifi, kitchen) are an extra bonus!

Disliked: Hard to find something here.. I recommend to bring earplugs, because of the possible noise in the hallway or at the reception, but it's a (youth) hostel so you can't expect absolute silence.

Disliked: A combo of very thin doors/walls with loud guests/staff in the common area makes for a rough night of attempted sleeping.

Liked: Amazing hostel!! The location is amazing- walking distance to nearly all major places. Super clean and well kept. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and organized functions to get guests to meet each other. Definitely well worth its money!!!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike!!! Great place to stay!

Liked: Staff was amazing, really helpful and amazingly friendly. Pointed us in the direction of some great places. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms were extremely clean and there were a lot of bathrooms and showers (individual rooms, not a huge hall bathroom). Great central location.

Disliked: Kind of weird entrance. No free breakfast.

Liked: We ( 6 girls!) had a great time here. The hostel was constantly being cleaned and tidied - one day I went to wash up my dishes and the cleaner offered to do them for me! Also my friend got hit by a car and sprained her ankle and the staff were all so attentive and helpful and helped her up the stairs and even went around Madrid to find her a crutch!!! The hostel staff took us and the other hostelites out around some local clubs at night which meant we got to know quite a few people within the 4 days we were staying there! The rooms were really tidy and we even had a balcony, and just outside the rooms were loads of computers with internet access! There was a little lounge room to chill in with loads of dvds and we even got to play a little spanish scrabble to improve our spanish skills! Thanks hostel1!

Disliked: Would have been useful to have a lift in my friend's case as meant walking up several flights of stairs on crutches, however not a problem for the rest of us. I got the impression from the site that there were either free breakfasts or dinners every night but it seemed this just meant that you could help yourself to any free food left by other travellers in the free food cupboard but again it didn't matter to us really. There are plenty of eateries around and about.

Liked: love the showers!!! it's like in a hotel. you wouldn't want to come out. but the problem is there's only 4 showers for everyone to share. so you'll end up waiting....

Disliked: too bad breakfast is not included, if it is, it'll make the the stay more worth it.

Liked: Good location right near plaza del sol, staff were very helpful

Disliked: Not enough room. Too many people crammed into a small space, so the common rooms are often full, there aren't enough showers or bathrooms, it's almost impossible to put anything in the fridge and you're always tripping over everyone else's crap in the rooms

Liked: The atomsphere in the hostel was wonderful. Friendly staff, nice fellow travellers cozy furnishing. Right after we had checked in the receptionist introduced us to the most important sights and places to go in Madrid also providing some information you don't find in the travel guide. Very nice! We also particularly liked the common rooms as well as the evening activities organized by the hostel's staff. The hostel provided a lot of equipment enabling one to cook one's own meal and there were always fellow travellers around in the common rooms while you were eating your meal. Almost every evening the hostel's staff organized some activities providing the guests the opportunity of meeting fellow travellers and experiencing Madrid's vibrant nightlife.

Liked: The location was excellent! Just a few blocks from Puerta del Sol and a short walk from many of the major sites. Full kitchen (including pots, pans, utensils, dishes, spices, oil, coffee, and tea) all available for use. Multiple common areas to meet people. Free lockers in room. Super nice staff.

Disliked: The walls were a little thin so it was a little loud at night but not too much of a problem. The lock on the door is also quite loud sometimes and, since my bed was right next to the door, it was sometimes annoying. Neither of those things would prevent me from recommending this hostel!

Liked: The staff were extremely friendly, pointing out which museums were free after a certain time. My laundry was finished in less than 2 hours, which was needed! There are lockers in the rooms but it might be best to bring your own lock, as they run out by evening. The hostel is in the center of everything! Right off the metro line and perfect for a day trip to Toledo or Segovia. The hostel also runs evenings out Thursday and Friday (I'm sure Saturday as well but I left Friday), organizing walking pub/club tours so people can get to know each other and explore Madrid's night life. And the dormmates were all respectable towards each other, not too much noise at any time so those who wanted to, could sleep uninterrupted. Full use of the kitchen and if you're nice, others will cook for you :) Very good group of travellers staying there while I was there.

Liked: Fun staff, great atmosphere, clean hostel. Wifi speed is not great but decent (lobby/reception room only).

Disliked: Bit noisy at night, music played from reception can be heard in rooms that are near to it.
