Liked: Location is amazing - right in the centre of Madrid where everything is happening, yet the hostel itself manages to be quiet and a peaceful place to be (our room overlooked Puerta del Sol but wasn't noisy at night due to good double glazing!). Air conditioning is also a big pro in August! It's in a beautiful building and the rooms and bathrooms are basic but clean, fresh and modern. Towels and bedding were free and changed regularly throughout our stay. A great hostel and good value for money.

Disliked: Only minor thing was that the breakfast wasn't amazing - milk was warm from being out for a while and it was slightly basic. But that said there was plenty of it available and options too (cereal, hot drinks, bread, toast, ham, cheese, cakes etc.) so don't really want to complain about this. If people are travelling alone this might not be the best place as, although the communal areas are nice, there wasn't much of a "hostel" atmosphere - no activities or group socialising, but this wasn't a problem for us. A point of constructive criticism would be that the hostel could promote its facilities better (didn't realise they had computers available until our last day for eg) and they didn't have any leaflets or suggestions from other travellers about what's good in Madrid, where to eat etc as hostels often do.

Liked: Convenient location. Although on the 4th floor it has a lift.

Disliked: There is nothing really 'Gay' about the hostel, other than a few single sex couples and single men. No advertising of clubs or restaurants. The room was pokey and not upgraded as Hostelbookers said. Sink blocked but was eventually fixed unlike shower which overflowed on every occasion. Breakfast basic with no other catering facilities and no one talked to eachother. I would only stay there again for the location.

Liked: Great location-it's pretty much what you're paying for. Having hot water, hot coffee, hor chocolate, or tea, and cookies available was really nice.

Disliked: The entire time we were there (4 nights), the wireless was not functioning. EVERYONE had trouble with it, but the owners weren't any help in fixing the problem. Also, only one of the two reception computers was working. The bedspreads and the tablecloth were funky, dirty and smelly. They were not up to par for the price, especially since the prices doubled over the New Year holiday.

Liked: The location was excellent. Breakfast was OK. The service was good and friendly. The airconditioned was not really airconditioned. It was controlled at a set point which was at a highe temperature and never got cool; it was always more or less hot. As long as they keep that control, they should not promote an air conditioned hostel.It wa a good value for the money because I was ther when the outside temperature was only warm and not hot.

Liked: The hotel is right in the heart of Puerta Del Sol which makes its location fantastic. The room I stayed in was right near the computers which people tended to use all day and all night, which meant there was a lot of nice.. the rooms are not that sound proof which meant you could hear every word that everyone said from the hallways. Breakfast included was a great bonus and wifi in the rooms... worth the money you pay.

Liked: This is just a basic accomadation with great location. Very near to the metro station and breakfast provided every day. It is worth stay and do not expect too much as you're not staying at the Ritz. The room was clean with shared bathroom and toilet. However, the room was quite warm because air conditioning was not functioning at that time. Thus, we had to open the window. Overall, it was a pleasant stay for budject travellers like us.
