Liked: The location was convenient.

Disliked: The staff was surprisingly rude. We had one of our friends drop by to visit us in the hostel since they lived near Madrid. We were unaware of the fact that guests must pay a fee of 15 Euro per night if they spend the night. Also, we were supposed to inform the staff whenever we had a friend come over as they do not have an employee stationed at the front desk monitoring the entrance to the hostel.

Liked: Clean place, friendly staff, room was very nice and the hostel is literally right next to puerta del sol which proved to be invaluable. Free towels, tv in room, and the two ladies there (Gloria and Silvia) were both very nice and helpful.

Disliked: No common room, which hurts when it's cool to meet fellow travelers. No internet there and no laundry, so it was a hassle to take clothes to the laundromat. For anyone who does NOT speak spanish it might be extra tricky there, both ladies speak very little english. Howevery, they are VERY nice.

Liked: Excellent location just a few minutes walk from Sol. Clean, neat & tidy rooms. Great value for the location.

Liked: Was in a very good location, right in the center of MAdrid near metro and food. Ok priced for the value. Just need to work on looking at reservations that were booked through here. Other than that not a bad place

Liked: The owners were very low key and easy going.We were allowed to pay by credit card on our departure. The Hostal was difficult to find as no directions were given from the metro. However come out of the main exit at Sol head towards the large neon Tio Pepe sign and Calle Victoria is on the left of the sign, look up and you will see the blue sign for Hostal Playa on the fourth floor. There is another hostal of the same name just of the sol but this is on the third floor and has a yellow sign "Pension Playa" don't confuse the two like I did!

Liked: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Really great location. Helpful staff but they didn't speak much English. close to metro station, 2 mins walk. great place just cross the road from hostel- you can get small beer or huge sandwich for only 1 euro. Room was cleaned every day. more like hotel thank hostel.

Liked: Location in the middle of center, easy to go everywhere; cleannes´, almost like a hotel room (tv,safety box, bath room), peaceful place -maybe because of the price, thank you!

Liked: My single room was small but spotlessly clean with everything you need - shower, hairdryer, TV.. heating and A/C. The hostel is perfectly placed as a base for sight-seeing and is very close to the Metro.
