Liked: clean, cheap and nice atmosphere.

Disliked: rooms are only shared, so when you´re alone with strangers it´s not comfortable because people are different.

Liked: It was safe, relatively clean and close to la puerta del sol.

Disliked: I went in Febuary so it was cold and they don't turn on the heat. It was very noisy, not street noise but the maids all yell at eachother and there's noise all night coming from other rooms. The staff was not overly friendly. The whole time I was there the elevators didn't work nor the computers. When the maid came in to clean and make the beds she didn't take the top blankets to clean after some people had chcked out; she just straightened it for the next guest...that was gross! The free breakfast is white bimbo bread with jam and butter, but if you like it simple I guess that's no biggie. The rooms are cold in character and temperture wise. I imagine that there are much better youth hostels in Madrid that are about the same price and that have heat and more character.

Liked: Rooms were spacious and clean, comfortable beds with clean linen and plenty of blankets. Locker was a good size. Bed lamp and outlet very useful.

Disliked: No real common room or place to meet others. On the first night the room smelt quite badly of body oder, but this was gone on my second night.

Liked: One of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in. Comfortable beds and a good breakfast. Great location.

Disliked: The hostel is in a very noisy area so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper! Also, they only provide plastic cutlery, plates, bowls, cups etc. which isn't environmentally friendly

Liked: The free tour was good, staff were friendly, room was comfy..

Disliked: Not as clean as I thought it would be. Some 1 actually did their business outside the toilet bowl and it was left there over night. Breakfast was awful. Their bathroom had no locks..

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: This was an AWFUL hostel. I stayed in many hostels in Europe (about 8 or so) and this was by far THE WORST. My locker didn't work when I arrived, and when I informed reception I was audaciously berated for 'putting too much luggage in the locker' (even though it ACTUALLY FIT COMFORTABLY. I couldn't believe they were trying to blame me for their crap facilities. Also, I should be able to fit ALL my luggage in a secure place -- what kind of hostel thinks it's acceptable for luggage to be lying around in a space shared with strangers?). What a ridiculous attitude to security. Also the broken locker problem was pretty much just ignored by reception. It was also poorly cleaned. I climbed into my bed only to find a fat wad of hairy CHEWING GUM stuck on my bed post. Disgusting.

Disliked: This has to be the noisiest hostel I have ever stayed at. I did read other comments about the noise, but the level here was totally unacceptable. I'm quite sure people were having a sort of party near the stairs of the upper levels, it's really a shame there isn't a common area where people can go and talk if they want. Also no hot water, and when people did use the bathroom it made so much noise it practically shook the room. Even if you are looking for a party hostel, its not fun to get woken up by that at 8am!!

Liked: They had amazing services like a pub crawl, free tour, and even a flamingo night. While i only tried the free tour (amazing), the other events were great from what i heard from other hostel guests. overall, clean, nice people, and they even had an elevator! They were very secure and the lockers were big enough for my carry on.

Disliked: The kitchen also closed early, a little annoying. and wouldnt open until 8ish in the morning. The only annoying thing was the water turning off after 5 second and u had to keep on pushing it to turn it back on (which wouldn't have been fine if the first bit of water wasn't cold).

Liked: The location is very central, and it is in easy walking distance of lots of things that you want to do during a stay in Madrid. The rooms were good as were the washing and cooking facilities. Residents each have their own locker in which they can store their belongings securely, which is very useful, and better provision than other hostels I have stayed in. Internet access is free, as well as the wireless internet. There is a good space where you can hang out and meet other guests.

Disliked: Not much, it was generally pretty good.

Liked: Low price, free wifi, stupendous location. Met some great people here. Right next to bars + food and very close to all the cool museums in Madrid. I left a few days early, and the staff gave me a full refund. There's also an elevator, which I was super thankful for. I would absolutely stay here again.

Disliked: No wifi in the dorms themselves, so you can't lounge in your bed reading the internet all day. OH WELL.

Liked: The location of this place is perfect, 10 minute walk to the Atocha train station, walking distance from EVERY site/museum/monument.... Cannot express how perfect the location is.... I would reccommend this place simply based on the location. Lockers inside the rooms were also very nice.

Disliked: The keys to the rooms are a pain in the butt, the bathrooms are kind of dirty (in their defense it is because so many people have to share them...) my room had a funky smell to it as well.

Liked: Good Location (between Plaza Mayor, Parque Buen Retiro, and Train Station). Clean and quiet. Offered group outings, unfortunately we were there on a night when nothing was offered, but they sounded nice.

Disliked: Person who introduced us to hostel (Pablo) wasn't that helpful. We asked about flamenco shows and he unsuccessfully tried to make a reservation for us at one place. He couldn't tell us of other places. I think he assumed that we didn't want to spend money on a flamenco show. Just because we are staying in a hostel doesn't mean we can't spend money on a good show. When in Spain right? He also laughed when I told him that I read online about a bar having free flamenco. We wasn't very professional. Breakfast was free but basic. Cornflakes and toast.

Liked: The entire hostel was fantastically clean from top to bottom. The showers were hot and there was a bathroom on every floor so there was never a queue for bathroom facilities. There was a large locker for each person in the room that was begin enough to contain my suitcase and my rucksack. The staff were really friendly and helpful and could speak English fluently. La Posada was in the middle of the city, close to many major sites such as the Prado and the Reina Sofia galleries and the Puerta del Sol and within easy walking distance of the Royal Palace and the Retiro park.

Disliked: This could be a positive or a negative really but it was on a main street for bars and clubs, which was ideal if you wanted to go out drinking and socialising but mean that it could be a little noisy at night if you were in a room that faced the street.
