 Great atmosphere, unreal view, terrific staff. Beware though, if you want to get some sleep this may not be the place for you as staff and backpackers partied til the wee hours...

Great hostel - would have stayed for longer had it not have been for work the following day... A return visit will no doubt be made! Friendly staff, amazing views (don't let the hill put you off) and cute fluffy animals made a rainy weekend thoroughly enjoyable. More of a home than a hostel - would highly recommend The Rambutan to one and all.

Its quite a climb up but it truly is a great get away from the city with a view to kill for. Its located at Sacromente so you can climb 15-20 minutes via Cinos trail to get to Alhambra. The Flamenco dancers are just 5 minutes walk away at night. If you are more of a city goer, you can still take bus 31, 32, 5 minutes climb down from the hostel. By the end of the stay you'll feel much healthier and muscular with all the exercise. Excellent ambience, homely and relaxed feel, you're not pressured to sign out strictly at a certain time, staff (Neil- manager) - helpful and warm. Great party place and guests get to show their talents i.e. singing, spanish guitars, and binging.

Really interesting atmosphere! :) People there were really friendly and many guests end up staying for a really long time. We didn't know who ran the hostel because some long-staying guests started running the hostel (cleaning, collecting money, etc.). It was a really unique place.
It had a really great view of the Alhambra as well! Except the hostel is pretty far from the town center.

My stay at Rambutan was great! The price was right, the location was beautiful up on the moutain overlooking the city and the Al-Hambra. The atmosphere was perfect...chilling and comfortable, and ou bedroom was very peaceful - I slept like a log every night! Most of all, though, the staff was super friendly and great to hang out with. Chilling with these guys felt like being with old friends, although we had only just met. Thanks for everything guys!

This hostel is really chill, the people I met were friendly and great, the staff recommended good tapas places and were interesting to talk to; they drew us maps and gave really detailed directions. The bathrooms were clean and the location, while up a big hill, was great with an amazing view of Alhambra and a relaxing atmosphere.

La puta madre!! :) Incredible view...wonderful, eccentric, motley crew of travelers and staff...great conversations, great parties. This was my first time at a classic youth hostel and it I LOVED Rambutan...honestly, it was hard to leave.

Great atmosphere, and welcoming staff...
I was originally only planning on staying here 1 night, but ended up staying for 4. Definately my favorite hostile i've been to on this trip.

The view was fantastic and had a nice patio to sit on. Some of the rooms lead into other rooms so was a pain at night with people coming and going.

Could cook. Meals available. Beautiful sight. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms. Hot water in showers. Good place to party but bedrooms are quiet. Beds are comfortable. Possibility to wash and dry clothes.
Things to improve: would like to have key to get in. Cold rooms. No glass in the windows; have to stay in the darkness if cold outside. Difficult to find the hostel by walking; no indications. Would like to have an individual locker for each. Would like possibility to pay with credit card. There was a small dog doing pi in the hostel. Lot of smoke downstairs; smell is weird with mix of cigarette, marijuana and pi of the dog. Washing machine is expensive.

Very chilled. great staff. very good place to relax for a while or party in the summer. nice dinners for 5 euros and free tapas at nearby bars. we extended our stay

The staff was incredibly friendly and the guests there were really chill. it is a bit of a hike up to the hostel but the view of the alhambra and the rest of the city is gorgeous!
