Liked: Most of the staff are very friendly and seem to be very knowledgeable about Barcelona; they are able to give a lot of recommendations about places to go, how to get there, etc. Particularly the man from italy - sorry I never got his name - but he was exceptional, he always went out of his way to be friendly and helpful. Also, traveling alone and in my 40's, this was a very nice place to stay because there were always people around in the common areas, and a wide mix or ages. I liked the location, it is a quiet residential neighborhood. I walked from the metro at night alone and felt quite safe, the walk to the metro is an easy one, about 5 minutes. However, it is definitely far away from things so if you are looking to be close to things, this is not the place. There are a few local Mom& Pop type shops if you need to buy anything but otherwise you have to take the metro to get to things. The metro is easy and quick though. The weather was not great so I didn't get to use the roof deck, but it is quite nice with a very nice view.

Disliked: I have only stayed in one other hostel (in Madrid) so don't have a lot of comparisons but here's my take on it. I stayed in a double room by myself (double meaning a bunk bed) and it was very tight for space....can't imagine 2 people staying there. I had 2 suitcases which took up a lot of the floor space, and there is no where to hang your clothes, not even a hook on the back of the door. So basically I was living out of my suitcase. The bathrooms cleanliness could be better. I saw the cleaning person there every day, it must just be because so many people are using them but they never seemed clean to me. On the other hand the kitchen was always spotless. It is very noisy, the walls seem to be paper thin so you hear every little sound, but I used ear plugs and was totally fine. Although most of the staff were friendly, there were a couple girls who were only average, they would answer what I asked, but not offer anything else. This is minor but feel I need to mention it - the blow dryer from the hostel stopped working and when I brought it to the desk, she said okay, took it back and looked at me. No offer to try it and see if she could figure out what was wrong with it, or even a suggestion of where I could buy a blowdryer (given I was standing there with wet hair). I wouldn't have expected anything more but the hostel does say it provides blowdryers and I was counting on that since my blow dryer from home with the converter was not working. Ultimately I got it working again. The breakfast, although very inexpensive (2 euro's) is only fair - basic white bread for toast, wheat cereal, croissants in a package, and one coffee. You have to pay 50 cents more for an extra coffee, which seems like nickel & diming to me. However, it's convenient to have it right there, especially since there's not a lot of restaurants around the area. Also, I had my laundry done by the front desk staff. You have to sign something saying you know the items will be put in the drier, which I did. However, i did not realize when I gave them both whites and darks, that they would wash them together. I would think they would ask me do you want 2 loads which I would have been more than happy to pay for, but it never dawned on me that they would wash them together. So several white tops were ruined. I suppose I should have asked.... All in all, for the low price, it's a pretty decent place. These negatives are minor but I thought I would mention them because they may matter to some people. The atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly front desk person from Italy made up for a lot of it. I might stay there again if I had a better room.

Liked: It is a nice house with personality, the staff are willing to help and speak different languages, the terrace has a nice view and there are some nice parks around.

Disliked: It is far away from the center, 30min by metro. The bathroom could have been cleaner.

Liked: Nice, helpfull and multi lingua staff. Me and my friends(in our surprised) could talk in our national language- polish laguage. It was really positive shock for us. It made us feel like at home ;D Inspite of that I like atmosphere int this hostel, like in a real, spanish,traditional house with peacefull climat when you can rest after tired day, greate! ;D We love it and certainly will come back to Barcelona, maybe even to right this hostel- Garden Hostel!

Disliked: to small and tight room for 8 persons

Liked: The atmosphere there is among the best I've experienced in all my Hosteltime. It's just lovely to sit outside in the garden, enjoying a nice chat with other travelers or somebody of the staff and just have a good time. I definitely recommend this hostel to anybody who values all this. Ilan

Disliked: You had to pay extra for breakfast...but that's the only thing, not too bad

Liked: Helpful and friendly staffs

Disliked: Everything was so perfect, but then second night there was a bad smell from outside of the room. My room was near from the street and it smelled bad. The staff has checked but could not find the source. It would be better if they can have desinfectant sprays to eliminate this.

Disliked: a bit far from the city center, but just a short train ride away. Not so much of a bad thing as it's the perfect place for a relax time away from the center

Liked: Very clean and cosy hostel, nice rooms with terrace, staff were very kind (specially Joanna) and the garden is fantastic. Highly reccommended!

Liked: The staff were always friendly and incredibly helpful in giving suggestions for good local eateries and such. The other guests were personable and there are many great places to gather to meet them (the roof terrace being the best).

Disliked: Though fun, the other guests are not always considerate about noise levels and the walls are rather thin.

Disliked: The dorm room was pretty small, should have only had 3 bunks and not 4. No one was allowed to use the BBQ outside.

Liked: Lovely, helpful staff and a really relaxed atmosphere which is just what we needed to recover after Benicassim festival! Loved chilling out in the garden or on the terrace and being able to cook our own meals in the kitchen. The breakfast was good for 2.50 euros; cereal, toast, coffee, tea, juice, pain au chocolat. It's in a nice neighbourhood-feels very calm and safe and there's plenty of little shops and bars around for food/drink.

Disliked: The 8 bed dorm we were in was pretty tiny, was nice having a balcony but there was a lot of backing up to let each other through the small spaces between the bunks! Kitchen was quite small too if more than a coupla people were trying to cook. It's quite far out from the centre compared to the accommodation we previously stayed in-if you're looking for a party atmosphere don't come here, however if you want to chill out and do some sightseeing it's perfect.

Liked: Very friendly staff, close to the metro station (for us moscovites it is the main criteria, I think). Opportunities of meeting a lot of interesting people. I also loked the fact that although the hostel was fully booked there were always enough showers, I never had to wait;)

Disliked: actually everything was cool. I cannot think of anything that I dislike.

Liked: The staff is very nice and polite. Sheets are nice and clean. I picked up this one, so I can park around and yes I did that ok. Nice garden and relaxed vibe. The internet service works out just fine.

Disliked: Too many people in quite small spaces. The breakfast is 2,50 Euros (quite modest but anyway,..), there are shelves for free stuff (left from previous visitors), there was some coffee there, and of course why not have some of it,... Guys from hostel saw people with coffee and the next day threw it to the trash, so the visitor would feel the need to purchase the 2,50 Euros breakfast, only because it included coffee... Cheap trick, pals, me went outside and bought a coffee for 1.20 Euros just not to fall into this lousy little strategy.

Disliked: 50 ct. per 15 min for using Internet was a bit too expensive for me.

Liked: I just stayed here for one night due to some changes in my plans. The place is cheap which is nice for Barcelona.

Disliked: The location is pretty bad. If you want to do anything you will have to ride the metro everywhere. Also we got stuck in the front room which was super load. You can hear everything that happens outside or in the common area.

Disliked: Breakfast should be included! And it's pretty far from the city center (though it is easy to get there using the metro.)

Liked: The atmosphere is very chill and it was a great place to relax and get away from the center for a while. Good place to stay if you´ve already done all of the touristy things in downtown.

Liked: The two girl staff (on duty in the morning) are very kind and helpful! The kitchen is clean and tidy, have a very good system to manage the remaining food in the refrigerator.

Disliked: cannot talk at night, no matter the dorm room, common area in front of the reception and even in the washroom! Unlike other hostel, It is totally not a suitable place to meet other travelers! Cannot talk at night! No matter in the dorm room, Internet area infront of the reception and even in the washroom! It's totally not a suitable place for the travelers to meet people, share their traveling experiences! (usually , most people go out for sightseeing during the day time) And, one thing MUST be mentioned - the male staff ( on duty on 8th May 2011, night shift) is the worst hostel staff that I would never meet before! Very impolite! Recommend it to other travelers? Probably NOPE! I don't wanna make other traveler have such a bad experience!
