Liked: The location is perfect and it's the biggest advantage of this hostel. it's in the gothic quarter and something about 100 meters from Las Ramblas. metro station (Liceu) in less then 5 minutes walk, Placa Real is literally across the street, Placa Catalonia is about 10 minutes walk, the jewish quarter, the Cathedral, the beach...their all REALLY close. the staff is quite helpful, the rooms are OK.

Disliked: The breakfast served in unpossible hours- 8:00-9:30 or something like that. so even when we checked out on 7:40 they didn't let us in. and from what we heard the breakfast doesn't worth the effort of waking up so early. the elevator is not working permanently every day after midnight! and many times during the day it wasn't working as well (in the private rooms building there is no elevator). there are computers for free internet but only 2 were working and again, only before midnight, so one can never really catch a free computer.

Liked: friendly and helpful staff. Easy to find for a tired traveler. Clean, and nice bathroom

Disliked: double room, with just a tiny window, like living in a box. And lot of noise from some watherpipes outside the room

Liked: Ferran street is a great location which is a 2 minute walk from La Rambla. Lots of bars and is very close to Placa de Reial with nice restaurants. Free wifi. Relatively clean.

Disliked: Some (not all) of the staff were pretty unfriendly. There weren't nearly enough computers to accomodate everyone. Breakfast was a joke (toast and fruit juice). The sink in our room made a loud gurgling noise all through the night. Getting on and off of the top bunk was near impossible without coming away with a few bruises. Beds aren't allocated. Paying 2€ for a sheet, 2€ for a towel or 2€ for a blanket and paying to store your luggage is ridiculous. Rooms have a bathroom attached which at first I thought was great but having to get up in the morning and creep around your room trying to get ready quietly in the dark because other people are sleeping off a bender is a pain.

Liked: I liked being close to a wide variety of activities, food, and transportation options. The 24 hour reception was comforting. They provide bottom sheet and pillow case for free and it was only a couple euro for a top sheet if you even need it. It's warm in the rooms but the circulation is good and there are windows. I saw them cleaning the rooms and bath rooms regularly which was great cause there were a lot of dirty youngsters around. They were really understanding when I had to change my reservation at the last minute. The staff also was really relaxed when I checked in and ended up needing a different bed than I was assigned and put me in a different dorm. They seem like they will help you or work with you to make something better if you ask and if it's possible. Everything works and the walk up the stairs late at night when the elevator is turned off is really not bad at all and I was on the 4th floor. The Internet also worked great up there. They even come and give you a wakeup call about check out if you need it.

Disliked: Mostly I didn't like all the young party kids that get a little disrespectful when they are drunk and on vacation. The hostels a good price and location for them so there's always going to be a lot of those kinds of dorm mates. Because you don't want to get stuff stollen you put everything in your locker and then risk coming in late at night to some one in your bed because there was nothing to mark your bed with so the dude didnt know the bed was taken. They give you a number for the bed you are assigned, but some of the numbers are rubbed off or maybe there are 2 number 4 beds are in your room...I managed fine though and again you have the 24 hour reception. It's a very busy place.

Liked: I had a great time here. Very friendly and helpful staff, friendly travelers, great location. I highly recommend the Sun & Moon Hostel.

Disliked: Only 2 out of 5 computers were functioning in their computer room, and the internet was really slow, but at least it was free :)

Liked: Fantastic location just off Ramblas on the 'Gothic' side. When we arrived we were expecting to be sharing bathroom/shower with other guests however we had our own private apartment which was located next door to the main hostel. Nice bathrom/shower, clean, spacious apartment for two people. Good facilities inside the hostel itself- free internet, breakfast included in the price, friendly and helpful staff on hand 24 hours a day. A cleaner offered to come and change our bed linen everyday and also got the water running again for us when it temporarily stopped working.

Disliked: The apartment was noisy, but we expected it would be considering the hostel's central location. On our side there were windows but hardly any natural light coming in. There were some fittings in the apartment that were in a state of disrepair and could be easily fixed, e.g. cupboard doors, towel rails, curtain rail. There was a fully fitted kitchen with a working cooker and fridge, but absolutely no appliances or cooking utensils in sight. We ended up just using the fridge for storing water/fruit and we bought our own travel kettle and mug from a nearby market. Also the area is a bit dicey but ok as long as you keep your wits about you and avoid handing around late at night, etc.

Liked: It's very central, close to major attractions, shops and restaurants.

Disliked: Lack of knowledge about the area by their staff, in terms of local laundry mat, how to get to places etc...

Liked: In Suite rooms and seems like there are always spaces available at this hostel.

Disliked: Selection at breakfast-awful. Only 2 computers were working. Very loud at night.

Liked: Great location right off La Rambla and cheap meals nearby. Also close to beach, Barri Gotic, Picasso Museum. Pretty clean, good value.

Disliked: Little noisy, staff are pathetic on security, a little out of it all the time. internet is slow, everywhere.

Liked: huge lockers, location, staff was ok, a bit disorganised with the reservations

Disliked: the lift doesn't work at night so if your room is in the 5th floor which is the last one and you are very tired you have no choice than going by the stairs. very very weak internet connection in the room in the 5th floor so the only way to get connected is to go to the living room.

Liked: I stayed here alone while my other two friend stayed in another hostel. I ended up getting better sleep (smaller dorms? more mature people?) and benefitted from the same great location. The street its is great for shopping and was filled with excitement during the world cup. Nothing outlandish or crazy about this place, its just what you need with no frills, and no long waits or hassles.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: The location is excellent. Really can't beat it.

Disliked: They charge 2 Euro for luggage storage, which to me is ridiculous. Also they have lockers in the room but you cannot use your own lock and you have to give a 2 Euro deposit just to use the locker. The staff was nice enough but they don't seem to know the area very well.
