Liked: I had a great stay here and would recommend it to other travelers. The staff were so friendly and helpful and let me use the internet and bathrooms even after I had checked out, which doesn't happen at many hostels. Beds were super comfortable and linens included, which is always nice.Definitely a quieter atmosphere and seemed to be an older crowd when I was there. If you're looking for a party hostel, this isn't the place, but if you're looking for somewhere clean and friendly and centrally located, this is definitely a good bet.

Liked: After a horrible hostel experience in the past, I wasn't sure what to expect from Somnio. I was very pleasantly surprised. The hostel staff were all, without fail, very friendly and cheerful and full of good suggestions for what to do and where to eat. The common bathrooms (I stayed in a 6-person dorm) were generally quite clean, certainly clean to my standards, although the shower was either burning hot or freezing cold with nothing between. The linens were clean and smelled fresh, the beds and pillows were reasonably comfortable, and our room even had a balcony which was great! The lockers could have been more secure (they wobbled and could have been easily broken into by someone determined) but I generally felt safe. The property itself is in a great classy building in a pretty good and central neighborhood; I never felt unsafe on the surrounding streets, even at night. Since it was Easter, they even put out a little bowl of chocolate eggs. However, while we stayed there, we couldn't figure out how to make the elevators work so we had to walk up two flights of stairs; fine for us but not so good if you have trouble with stairs. We did at one point see an 'older' couple (mid-30's) leave the double room, so I would agree with Somnio's classification as an 'older' youth hostel and not a 'party' youth hostel.

Liked: Everything was good at the hostel until 3 american teenagers moved in... they made a den at 2 am and again at 4 am. It was very frustrating as we didn't managed to sleep much that night. Hope the staff will in future remind occupants to have respect for others who might be sleeping when they come back from their adventures in the wee hours. Cheers.

Liked: The place was very clean and secure. The people were very friendly and had great suggestions for places to go. The only bad thing is that it was a little pricey for a someone on a budget.

Liked: I very much like the personable, friendly and extremely helpful staff. It was my 1st hostel experience and I have to say I will try it again when next I decide to take a trip such as this one.I like the fact that it was grown and mature and not at all rowdy even when the 6 room suite was at capacity.

Liked: The staff was amazingly helpful with everything from booking taxis to finding places to eat or go and how to get there. They were great to just sit and talk to as well and never had an issue with anything we asked. The hostel was clean, the showers were hot, and the beds were comfortable and having everything provided for us (sheets, towels etc.) was great.

Liked: I would absolutely recommend this hostel. This was the cleanest and most secure hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff were friendly and helpful in setting our agenda. The sleeping quarters and bathrooms were immaculate. I would say the layout is not ideal for meeting other travelers as there is not much of a common area. However, if you are looking for a clean place in a very good location, Somnio is a great choice.

Liked: It's almost a hotel, so if you want confort it's great. So great value for money! Great location, walking distance from Ramblas and turistic sites.Very clean, individual lockers, awsome leans, friendly staff. Just dont go if you you want to meet people, because its more kinda hotel... great to go as a couple for example.
