 great location - middle of the gothic quarter, great place to meet people, decent breakfast, nice bath facilities, very friendly and helpful staff

Helpful staff, very nice place. The only problem was that I was put in a 6-bed room turned into a 8-bed room, and thus my bed was too close to a window, and I had no reading light (while the other beds did have it).

It is really in the middle of everything, especially when you are coming for the city and shopping...the beach is a 20 min walk! Very safe and clean!

This hostel was very clean (especially the bathroom!) and friendly. It had a good location and my room even had a cute little balcony from which I could see the street below. The lockers were provided with the room, which was absolutely amazing, and it was one of the least expensive hostels in which I've ever stayed. On the negative side, the water in the shower only stayed on for a limited time, so you had to keep pressing the button, but while it was on it was hot.

the atmosphere was great - very clean and welcoming. the staff was really helpful in giving directions and suggesting activities etc... it was very quiet most of the time, so if you are a big party person this isnt the place for you.

My girlfriend and I approve of this hostel, and I noticed many females present as well. This must show that Itaca is a nice, clean, secure hostel with a great location within a few steps of Catedral de Barcelona and the shopping on Avinguda del Portal de l'Angel

The hostel was in a great location and the decorations inside were very homey and cute. The people who stay there are generally not partiers and would rather explore the city by day than go out at night. Remember that the hostel closes from 4-7 am and the workers there can be rude if you come in really close to those times. Besides that most of the staff was friendly and i felt safe in the hostel and you can walk everywhere from there.

The hostel had a very comfortable feel and was very clean. The beds were so comfortable and everyone was very accommodating. The hostel is in a prime location, right behind a huge cathedral, 5 minutes from tons of museums, and a 15 minute walk to the port and train station. I highly recommend it, we had a great time!

I liked all the above mentioned, friendliness of the staff - calling a taxi, breakfast etc and location, location. I enjoyed! I already have warmly recommended Itaca hostel to my friends, but some of them (couples) propably choose more privacy.
While staying, I met nice people there but I wasn't looking for partying, but a nice place in the center of Barri Gotic to be a tourist and see things. (I was going to a rock & roll holiday festival of 5 days/nights in Calafell, so good night sleep was needed!).
Range of facilities; bike rental? Would be nice, or info where you could rent. I am not sure, maybe bike rental was mentioned in those brochures that were available.

Excellant Location, in convenient and safe area; inside Gothic Quarter but right by a main road. Plenty of places to eat and get UK newspaers etc and supermarket nearby. Lockers inside room were quality as were the individual reading lights for each bed. Only real problem (for some) was the curfew, hostel closing from 4am-7am, and the lounge/kitchen area being closed from 10.30pm till morning. Good place though, comfortable beds too.
