Disliked: The second guesthouse was in the basement of an apartment and the entrance door lock was broken and left open to the other beds. Although I had a single room and lock door why risk the chances?

Liked: Very friendly staff, with a warm welcome and good enough English, provided a local map and advised about best way to get around with a T-money card. Wi-fi was good and free computers to use. It's cheap, very cheap!

Disliked: Security! Permanently unlocked front door and no 24 hr reception. Same also for the dorm rooms, no key or lock on the door. Lockers are provided though. There is a big sign, NO ALCOHOL, NO PARTY, NO NOISE, but no mention of this on the description of the hostel. Not that we were out to make a noise, but we were there for Christmas! Some people seemed to reside there and all their stuff was everywhere.

Liked: I had the best time here. Came into town to visit Seoul on the long weekend and wound up spending most the time at the hostel. The entire staff is awesome! Everytime we went somewhere we couldnt wait to go back to the house to hang out with Mr. Kim, staff and guests. We met people from all over the world that knew of Mr. Kim. Soju flows like water and his evening bar b ques are amazing. They lined up any tour we wanted and bent over backwards to help us with anything. Dinners are family atmosphere and then took us to the choice clubs that nite. Didnt wind up rolling in till the sun came up. Will never stay at any other hostel when I visit Seoul again. Thanks, Mr. Kim and staff.

Liked: I had trouble making reservations...Mrs Kim asked me to keep checking back to confirm reservations. Seemed weird to me. I have done a lot of traveling and have not had any need to keep confirming the reservation. The when we arrived on 12/30, she did not have us arriving that day, but one day later. There were 6 in our party and we requested 2 rooms. Luckily she had rooms for us anyway.The place could more clean, the floors were dirty, however the kitchen facility was typical with toast/jam and coffee available and towels were hard to come by. The stairway area leading to our rooms needed cleaning after their recent renovation.Location is hard for taxis to find.

Liked: Mrs Kim was very very helpful, letting us check in early in the morning and store our cases until our rooms were ready. She saved the day by talking to the man from the airport when one of our cases was lost in transit. A great place to stay and within easy reach of the metro which connected to all the main stations.

Liked: I rented one of the private rooms in the building next to the main one. We had a private entrance so I didn't spend much time in the main building. But our room was clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood is safe and a little of the beaten track, with lots of nice little restaurants.
