"Probably the coolest hostel I have ever stayed at. The idea about a "campsite" in the middle of Seoul is very original, and the beds are designed in a way that you have more privacy than in most hostels.…"Read all Seoul Base Camp reviews

At Base Camp, we capture those moments and share them. We are a camp in the middle of the city. Our rooms are tents and our rooftop is a playground. We have a guitar for a TV and a picnic table indoors.
This is a place for pioneers to find themselves among others who are equally open for something different.
Come and enjoy our huge space and even larger spirit. Read more

About Seoul Base Camp
We wanted a place where we would be in walking distance from a major nightlife area. We know we don't like to walk too far to get home at the end of the day. We found ourselves an old abandoned dance hall in the middle of Seoul at Hongdae area, which is the birthplace of alternative scene in Seoul.
We also made sure we were within one minute from the subway exit. Perhaps the best part is that we are a minute away from the Han river, which is like Hudson of New York or Thames of London. Our guests can always rent a bike and ride along the river enjoying the river breeze.
We would rather be in a large space without worrying about our feet hitting the end of the bed so we built our own sleeping capsules with bigger room than usual bunk bed. For bonus we installed power outlet and a light source that you can control in each cell. The room is always air conditioned so it wouldn't get stuffy in the summer.
We especially love to chill out at the end of the day with other travelers and exchange info so we gave plenty of space to do just that. We built a huge sofa out of cargo pallet and At late night it's awesome to have a place where people can still party without waking others so we cleaned up the rooftop and added tables.
However, what we love the most above all that, above creating a great space, is to share something great. Come and stay with us!
Our amenities include :
Free wifi & public computer.
Free waffles in the morning.
Free toast & butter & apple jam throughout the day.
Free coffee & tea.
Free shampoo & body wash & conditioner.
Base Camp has seven rooms. In these minimalist rooms with high ceilings, you will find either bunk beds or capsule beds.
Bunk bed rooms are standard dormitory you would find in any well-kept hostel. There are 2 beds with 4 travellers in each cozy room.
If you would like extra privacy and comfort, you may choose to try our capsule bed. Like a honey comb, you have your own cell where you climb into and then you have the most comfortable spot in the world. We provide each cell with an electric outlet and a work light for those times you would rather read a book or work on your laptop into the night. The best part is that we can remove the dividers between each cell so you can share a larger space with your friends. What not to love?
Our beautiful bathroom facility is efficient yet comfortable and warm. Enjoy our amenities like shampoo/body wash/conditioner, as well as towels and hair dryer.
Our rainfall showers provide a special shower experience, giving you the sensation of washing in the warm summer rain. And if you like it the old way, there is also the flexible shower head.
One more thing. We have a wide open rooftop where you can get your skin tanned or have a beer after a hard day of walking. On weekends, you can even jump into our hot tub and relax.
Base Camp is located at Hongdae area, the single largest entertainment district in Seoul. It is the central hub to places like Itaewon (international district), Jongro (political and economic centre and also where palaces are), and the airport.
We are 50 meters off of Hapjeong station, which is a hub station with subway line 2 and 6 crossing. Along line 2 you will find all within 20 minutes, the palaces, city hall square and Dongdaemoon fashion district.
Along line 6, you can reach Itaewon international district and the Sangam Seoul soccer stadium, all within 15 minutes.
We are in Hongdae. The area offers shopping, dining, concerts, and most famously, the best nightlife in Seoul.
When the subway closes at midnight, you can always walk home or take a taxi for only 2400 KRW (which is only 2 Dollars in US currency)
