Liked: It was situated in a beautiful Village.

Disliked: We were placed in an empty home a few blocks away from Dijembe itself. The house was in a poor state. It took us a 1/2 hour to fill the bath with just enough water to take a bath. By that time the bath water was cold. We asked to be moved but to no avail. We wanted to find other accommodation but were told that we will lose our money. After talking to the owner Brad, he said that he will refund us with ½ our money back if he did not get a replacement for us and our full amount if he did. In the end we left on Monday the 20th December 2010. I have e-mailed them twice but am still waiting for my refund. Four of our friends had the same bad experience & service. They at least got some money back. After leaving we stayed at Fairy Know Backpackers in Wilderness which was totally awesome.

Liked: The atmosphere was good at night. It's the only place around where the music is playing. (But only when it not rained)

Disliked: It's rundown, cramped and there is nowhere to hang around when it rained. The bar only fits 4 people, and the service sucked. (They would give you the warm beer just unpacked instead of the cold ones at the back.) One day we didn't have hot water, the next morning there was no water at all and our basin in the double ensuite room leaked water all over the floor. We stayed 4 nights and they made no effort to fix it. The roof leaked aswell. Our friends who also booked an en-suite room had to stay in a completely empty, very old house 3 blocks away. They would not move them closer to us, even though a room was open and this spoiled another part of our stay. Why book at Dejembe if you don't even stay there? I will never recommend this Hostel, I've stayed at hundreds and this one was by far the worst. Apparently it's the Lonely Planet's number 1 hostel in Stromsriver... I think they should come around again, this place is falling apart!

Liked: The lodge we stayed in was really good. Great value for money. The owner helped us a lot and took us on an impromptu tour of the local township, and ensured that we could do the nearby bungee jump even though we hadn't booked.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: The place didn't quite meet my expectations. First they had difficulties in finding the booking made through HostelBookers but it got sorted out rather quickly and was just a minor problem. However it seemed that they we're not too organized with other things either and if you asked for something today it might already have changed by tomorrow (bookings for activities, transportation). They do not really offer many of the activities they advertise and are not too eager to help you if you're not interested in one their "own" activities (makes sense as they only get revenue from those they can organize themselves). Same applies also if you ask for places to eat etc. So it felt more like if you're not spending your money with us you definitely should not spend the money on anywhere else either. Exactly the opposite service one gets used to in good hostels where if they cannot offer something they are glad to point you to the right direction. The rooms, bathrooms and the common areas were ok and sleeping was not a problem. So the best is to have your own car, only sleep at the hostel and do day trips from there.
