Liked: Location

Disliked: Cold, hostel decor and bathroom facilities looking very dated and rough.

Liked: Room was nice, location in Stellenbosch was good. The facilities are well kept and clean, the communal kitchen and lounge area are really nice with a cool fireplace and a pool table which only costs R2.

Disliked: Wrong time of year for it to be busy, there were not many travellers and the vibe was not too great. You can tell that the place would be awesome if full of other travellers.

Liked: Location was good and the staff helpfull.

Disliked: It was cold in the room (no heater) and it was located next to the toilet/showers so it was noisy too. The bathroom door was very loud every time someone opened or closed it. In the last morning there wasn't warm water at all in the showers. Not ok!

Liked: Run by a nice couple, place has a laid-back atmosphere and convenient location, close to good cafes and the train station.

Disliked: My reservation hadn't been received by the time I arrived, so I almost ended up without a bed. Fortunetely they had a private room available, but at the second building (hostel has 2), which had been fully booked by a group of noisy students.

Liked: Not a bad location, helpful day staff.

Disliked: We were in a double room with plaster falling off the walls, one window (which looked into the office) and the feel of a prison. The night staff just didn't seem to care about the place, though the day staff were very helpful. Generally not a good atmosphere and the place was basically empty. The security door then stopped working, just to add to the fun.

Liked: This place was fine, staff were nice and bike hire was good. But an overland bus was passing through when we stayed and a group were up all night making A LOT of noise - so depends if that's your cup of tea....
