Owned by Dave & Terry Doveton, Vuna Valley Ventures is a family friendly holiday destination 10 minutes inland from Port Edward on the Lower South Coast. This magical spot is set within strolling distance to the Old Pont entrance of the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve and River and close to a number of unspoiled beaches which makes it the ideal destination to promote an up close view of nature, combined with a host of outdoor activities.

Accomodation:

Hornbill Cottage: Two bedrooms separated with reed blinds. Sleeps 4 - 5.
En-suite with a unique shower with a view.
Tea / Coffee facilities. Bed linen & bath towels provided.
Rates: From R 480.00 per cottage per night.

Fish Eagle room: Double room en-suite with bath & shower. Sleeps 2.
Tea / Coffee facilities Bed linen & bath towels provided.
Rates: From R 280.00 per room per night.

Sunbird Family room: Two bedrooms seperated with reed blinds. Sleeps 4.
En-suite. Tea/Coffee facilities. Bed linen & bath towels provided.
Rates: From R 440.00 per unit per night.

Woodpecker Dorm: Dormitory en-suite. Sleeps 4. Bed linen & bath towels provided.
Rates: From R90.00 per person per night

A light breakfast: cereal, toast preserves tea/coffee in included in above prices.

Many outside breakfasts, braai's, potjies are the order of the day. A honesty bar is available.

All meals are provided on request. eg. Vegetarian, full breakfast, dinner, braai 's picnic hampers or packed lunches for hikers and birders.

What to see and do:

Umtamvuna River - ' the waters that reap ' is 160km in length. Superb grasslands, great gorges gashed into raw rock, cliffs of vari-coloured sandstone, sparkling waterfalls and forests of fascinating complexity, teaming with rare fauna and flora...... inviting exploration. With the backdrop of the Indian Ocean the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve, a 3275 hectare area plays host to 1250 species of flowering plalnts, 320 of which are trees and shrubs. The UNR contains more kinds of rare trees than anywhere else in Southern Africa. 259 species of birds, 54 species of reptile and 29 species of small mammals. Not surprisingly the Reserve is internationally acclaimed as a reservoir of exciting biological secrets and has drawn the interest of scientists from all over the world.

Take one of our canoes, armed with a packed picnic, and gently paddle up river through great gorges of cliffs adding an element of adventure to your day. Take a gentle or strenuous hike through a breathtaking botanical paradise and rejuvenate your soul.

Various activities are available: Hiking, Mountain Bike trails, Canoe trips, River & Deep Sea Fishing, Horse Riding, Dolphin and Whale spotting.
Support one of our established community projects - A guided hike to experience a warm village welcome, a traditional meal, learning about their cultures and crafts and visit a Sangoma.
