Liked: Bob and Joan were really friendly and welcoming. The hostel is spotlessly clean, with a great little kitchen that you can use. Bob organised a city day trip for us with short notice, which was great. The location is safe to walk around - short walk to the shops and a large supermarket. Very highly recommended!

Liked: bobs is a perfect place to chill out, bit far away from the action but they offer good daytours around town.

Liked: The property was really clean, swimming pool in good condition clear water and the garden is a delight to sit in and relax.

Disliked: Only thing i didnt really like was walking through the next dorm to get to the bathroom, but i suppose backpackers is exactly that practical.

Liked: this is a great place to stay - would totally recommend staying here if you wanna see Joburg but still know, that you have a nice hostel to come back to in the evening. Joan and Bob help me heaps organizing various trips in town and in SA. They always have guests safety and comfort on their mind and go out of their way to help you. Pick up from the airport worked good as well. Thanks for a great time!

Disliked: can't say that I disliked anything! Gonna be back here soon enough.

Liked: The staff are really helpful and make you feel right at home!

Disliked: The layout of the bathroom in the larger dorms makes it fairly noisy at night and in the morning, since you have to walk through a separate dorm room to reach the bathrooms

Liked: Bob and Joan run a very clean, secure hostel and the help that they provide to travellers is excellent.

Disliked: The location. Edenvale is situated well outside from Joberg and is a somewhat drab spot. There is nothing worth seeing walking distance.

Liked: I was feeling at home during my stay in Bob's Bunkhouse. Bob and his wife are extremely friendly and they are always making sure everyone feels at home. There everybody can also book different tours around the city and can be sure your safety is 100%guarantee and in my opinion this is very convenient. Next time I come to south africa again I will stay there, for sure! I recommend Bob's Bunkhouse to everyone.

Liked: family atmosphere

Disliked: many things, read above. Plus they have a taxi driver who works with them, in other words no choice to have the tours by some one else. Airport pick ups are NOT always free.

Liked: I felt very safe and had a good time staying in this Hostel. Bob and his wife are really lovely.

Disliked: People had to walk through our dorm to get to the bathroom.

Liked: Bob and Joan very helpful, will help organise a pick up or drop off if required. Offer a safe home away from home, with friendly atmosphere, onsite bar and great conversation.

Liked: I had a lovely time in Bob's the couple were very nice and helpful to me. Great advice on things to do being a girl on my own felt very safe in the accomodation. Only problem was that as it was out of season didn't really meet anyone but can't be helped. Would recommend it as a place to stay. Shame wasn't hot enough to enjoy the poot.

Liked: Bob and Joan are fantastic! From the moment I contacted them before making a booking, Joan was exceptionally helpful. Once booked, she organised a taxi for me at the airport, booked my tours and even ordered pizza for me. Bob and Joan are very friendly, helpful, kind and courteous. They were always keen to know how the day had gone and did take time to chat with the guests. The night that I arrived there was a family party at the hostel and Joan had decided to accommodate me in the main house rather than the hostel so I could get some rest and sleep. I don't think there are many hostels that would be this considerate. I found the hostel to be clean and comfortable. There was also a shuttle service provided by Bob between the airport and the hostel between certain hours, but because I arrived late, they organised a taxi for me. (After all, they do deserve some time to themselves).

Liked: The hosts are very helpful , informative and friendly and do their best to make sure you are ok.

Disliked: Its needs a freshing up. The host are not exactly promoting the city and their activities and are very worried about their guests who want to go out there. They mainly tell you what not to do, not so much what you can do.

Liked: Excellent hostel. Very clean and cosy. Bob's family is always ready to help. Definitely going there again next time in South Africa.

Disliked: Is a little bit far from city interesting points but near the airport though.

Liked: The backpackers near the Joburg airport are all quite strange, but I liked this one because it had a little bar area, a pretty looking pool, separate kitchen area and a place to sit outside. Its very close to the airport and Bob and Joan are very nice. Keep in mind that transport to and from the airport is not free.
