Joburg Backpacker

Joburg Backpacker is a company that is associated with The Thatchery Country Venue for the duration of the 2010 World Cup. The Thatchery has been operational for the last 16 years, and is therefore highly experienced within in the catering and hospitality industry. Being able to accommodate for a wide variety of tastes and expectations, has lead to its popularity within the industry.

Facilities:
Throughout the hosting of the World Cup 2010, Backpacking facilities will be available. The venue will be accommodating up to 200 people at time. This will allow for good times and exchanging of stories and experiences with fellow football supporters from around the world. This all whilst enjoying an ice cold south African beer or wine in the true South African Bush styled pub on site equipped with big screen televisions showing the games.

There are 13 dormitories that are available that will accommodate from 8 people to 40 people at any one time. Each bed will have area available for the safe locking away of personal effects. There will be 24 hour armed security for the duration of the World Cup.

Breakfast will be available every morning from 7am till 10am, and it is entirely your choice to either eat in the restaurant, or outside on the veranda over looking the country style setting.

Lunch will be available on a daily basis, and shall be served in the "Thatchers Pub" that is situated within the grounds.

A variety of suppers will be on offer throughout the duration of your stay, where you will be able to enjoy the tastes and flavors of South African cuisine.

Secure transport will be available on request at a nominal charge, whether it be for a collection or drop of at the airport, or be it a trip to the shops, golf course, tourist sights, or more importantly to and from the football games.

Accommodation Information

There are 14 dormitories available that will accommodate 8 to 40 people. Each bed has space for safe locking away of personal belongings.

Location Information

Situated just 30 minutes from Johannesburg city center, is therefore an ideal candidate when it comes to having a "base" during the 2010 World Cup hosting proud of South Africa. It lies on the "West Rand", which makes it close to the following venues:

Ellis Park
Loftus Versveld
Soccer City (Soweto)
Royal Bafokeng Stadium

The Treachery That is close to all necessary amenities, including casinos, medical centers, Maropeng (Cradle to humanity), rhino and lion park, downtown and shopping malls. A traditional South African bush pub is also within the grounds.
