What is Mufasa Backpackers,? The truth is Mufasa backpackers is whatever you want it to be, it is a house imbedded with a spirit, like the restless wanderer looking for that special place in the world, its forever looking for new adventures and challenges, it’s a place where you can sit down and be yourself, read a book or it can explode into a very vibrant fun filled adventure, it can be your best time spent in Johannesburg or it could be a overnight spot.
It becomes the person that you are; it’s up to you what you want to make of it.

Mufasa was born on the road, it was a dream that became reality through hard work and commitment, we all had our bad times and good times but the reality of it all is that we are here, and we are here to stay.

We are all guides that frequently return to the road, we love adventure, we love people and we have the background and the knowledge to apply it to our daily life.

Through the last three years we have build up a relationship with overland companies, guides and individuals that keeps on returning and now call it their home, as a matter of fact about 80% of our visitors are returning visitors, people that came for a day and stayed for a week, guides that is tired of the road stays here to unwind and find them self again, but they always return to the road, cause it’s like a magnet, it’s a lifestyle a never ending story.

We are not a 5 star hotel, we provide good clean accommodation, home cooked meals and a family atmosphere, you will arrive here as a stranger and leave as a friend.
There is people that came here and expected the chocolate on the pillow when they go to bed, to have their coffee being brought to them in bed, but that is not who we are ,we are a backpacker for backpackers that know what backpacking is about and that are familiar with the backpacker industry

Recently we have decided to adopt a orphanage down the road with a total of roughly 75 kids, youngest about 6 weeks oldest 19, I am not saying that we have succeeded in improving their life standards but we are trying, we donate school books, pens, food whatever we can to make that small difference in a kids life we gave them a Christmas tree over Christmas, Santa clause and all the people here donated gifts and sweets. IT WAS GOOD.
So we are striving to make the orphanage work through tourism and sustainable development and to make a difference in a kid’s life at the end of the day.

So what is Mufasa?
We are here to give you a opportunity to spent time in a south African backpackers in Johannesburg, to become part of the family for a short period of time, to understand that not all things in live is about Money or power, that there is still good place left in the world with people that cares about u, the guides and the people of South Africa.
