Liked: Cheap beers, clean enough, nice courtyard, good balconies.

Disliked: Mosquitos able to get into rooms at night, hippy guy had inconveniently loud sex in the bunk next to me at 5:30 in the morning

Liked: If you're looking for cheap, central and secure then this is good choice. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere cordial.

Disliked: It was very simple and my room was like a prison cell. But for what I paid, I'm not complaining.

Liked: The free wifi.

Disliked: The lack of concern about the extremely dirty, ill equipped kitchen, the arguments between the owners and the long term guests and the unhelpfulness of the staff.

Disliked: no much help from the stuff, no city map, could not find out about the buz bus, took them some time, seemed like thy do not really use it that much

Liked: The open courtyard and balcony where you can be outside yet safe.

Disliked: The area is not the most salubrious at night. However there are supermarkets and take-aways nearby. The map had the old street names.

Liked: It's not really party hostel, but great location, feels very safe inside, you can booze with the stuff. I loved the patio. Very clean. I had great time there,definatelly would come back if in Durban. Recommended.

Disliked: 1. The staff is quite cold at "first sight",however,after first wine bottle they become really friendly;) 2. Located in a bit dodgy area,but most of the Durban is actually dodgy, so not a big deal.

Liked: Guy on reception was very helpful, booked us taxis, food etc when we arrived late at night for one night stay. Bit of a seedy area with people hanging around outside but feels safe enough once you're inside. Dorms are covered in cockroaches though and get the impression the showers etc only clean because they had just been repainted that day. We were glad to only stay one night but it was cheap at least!

Liked: location is very good. close to Florida Road for a night out/food. Very convenient for the cricket!!! Staff are less than enthusiastic.Very loud at night, even gone midnight so if you fancy a good kip this aint the place to be!

Liked: The only positive point about Banana Backpackers, was that the showers were hot and and had great pressure. However it was obvious these were not cleaned on a daily basis!The hostel is very cheap to stay at, but you are getting what you pay for!!
