Liked: Good location, good staff, very clean, good value for money, on the BazBus trail. Communal areas are very snazzy, more like a hotel than hostel.

Disliked: Not a very scenic location - good for ushaka world - and I guess the beach - not great for the rest of the city - although you are on a bus route

Liked: Very spacious. Lots of room to move around. Very big dining room. Very big living room. Very big bathroom. Very big rooftop and bar where you can have a drink, watch television, and just sit and relax in a large sitting area. Excellent location in the central part of the city. Close to everything. Just a few minutes walk from the beachfront. Free tea and coffee all day. This is truly the place to stay whenever you are in Durban.

Liked: The location was not bad, although it is not one of the safest locations in Durban and it had and off-street parking.

Disliked: Almost everything- the staff was extremely unfriendly, they made us open and close the garage on our own (it was very complicated and filthy- you had to open a couple of lock, lift the heavy garage door on your own etc.). The room was tiny and filthy and there was not hot water in the showers 24hrs. Also the hostel always smelled bad because the kitchen was located in a large space that lead to all the rooms. The internet was overpriced (approx. 30rand/10min).The bar was always empty and boring.

Liked: It's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at - very nice interiors, comfy rooms and good bathrooms/toilets.

Disliked: Would be nice if some minimal breakfast was provided as there are no eateries close by (other than the Steers at the nearby petrol station).

Liked: The staff was amazing. Very friendly and welcoming.

Disliked: Wish there was a television where you could watch the news or sports or just sit back and watch a movie.

Liked: It was close to Ushaka aquarium and water park. There was also a laundry which was pretty good value for money and the dorms were comfortable

Disliked: I didnt like the see through shower curtains, although the bathrooms were spotlessly clean. I also didnt like the fact that the dorm rooms did not lock and non residents were allowed in to go to the bar each night so I didnt feel my belongings were very safe

Disliked: The kitchen was a little to dirty for my liking, cockroaches etc etc Also is in a bit of a run down area.

Liked: It is located in a big warehouse conversion so had plenty of space and a big open lounge. The staff are friendly as well.We had a 4-bed dorm with own ensuite and it was very clean, the shower pressure is strong and there's a rooftop bar as well.Location, it's at the end of the beach, very near uShaka and the shops there and the beach, 2 mins walk which was great. But quiet at night time, no shops outside.

Disliked: Compared to other backpackers that I had stayed in during the World Cup period in Cape Town and J'Burg, this place lacked a bit of atmosphere. Also, all the rooms open up to the common area, so if there's a crowd outside hanging out, you can hear it quite loud in your room, bring iPod!
