Liked: Great location - so close to all the bar and pubs on Long Street, and only a short cab ride to all the major attractions. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The rooms are really noisy - guess that's what comes from being located on the party street. Would have been good to have a fan in the room so we could close the window and keep out some of the noise.

Liked: Situated on Long Street which means you don't have to walk a long way for evening entertainment. The sister hostel Carnival is across the road. They have a Bar and have bands and events on. This means you have access to this but not the noise in the hostel meaning if you did have an early start then you can get to sleep. The reception staff are great and gave us great advise on where else we should visit in South Africa. The night guard is friendly and was great when I fractured my foot, carrying me up the stairs and helping me with my bag. He also made us feel very secure at night along with the locked gate open by a code.We though this hostel was great and returned to it on our way back for our flights home.

Liked: Location at center of city, next to my car rental and near to hop-on-hop-off bus route.

Disliked: Too many night spots around the area, noisy throughout the night, people shouting, music blaring and car honking till dawn. People next room got out to the balcony and quarreled over a girl just outside our window at 4.00 a.m. Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liked: In the centre of city, just next to my car rental depot, near to hop-on-hop-off bus route.

Disliked: TOO MANY PUBS AND NIGHT SPOTS AROUND THE HOSTEL. NOISY THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. PEOPLE SHOUTING,CAR HONKING RIGHT THROUGH THE NIGHT.PEOPLE FROM THE NEXT ROOM GOT OUTSIDE THEIR ROOM AND QUARRELED OVER A GIRL JUST JUST OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW AT 4.00 A.M. CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

Liked: in the middle of everything!!!staff very helpful, helped me book a shark dive the night before!

Disliked: no free internet too many beds for room... dont have a problem sharing but u cant even move on the room!

Liked: The location was perfect, the hostel was kept clean. The bar was useful, the entry door made me feel secure.

Liked: I like the place and the location...the staff are very friendly

Disliked: The rooms are very empty, the beds and nothing else, not one chair, not a locker, we need to put the clothes in the floor, probably the prices were higher for the world cup

Liked: A pleasant place to stay, except for the location: too much noise from the street and local pubs/restaurants at night. The prime benefit of any place of accommodation is to be able to sleep peacefully. Every effort should be made to secure the cooperation of nearby establishments and public safety personnel on the street to respect the rights of guests at Blue Mountain Backpackers to enjoy peaceful sleep at night, by reducing noise levels. This, in my view, is the single, biggest improvement you could possibly make.Perhaps you could routinely supply soap and towels in the bedrooms too. That would certainly be convenient. It's good that you supply free tea and coffee, though a reserve supply of powdered milk for the times that the "cow runs dry" after the shops are closed, would be most helpful!Yours sincerely, Tony Arkinstall

Liked: Nice place in the centre of Cape Town. It is a reasonable hostel for in the city. Friendly staff. It is in a busy street with a lot of places to eat and dance. But is does not meet the quality you can find outside Cape Town for the same or less money.

Liked: This hostel has a great location and helpful staff. Unfortunately the room we had was a bit tired and there were no curtains either in the bedroom or the bathroom, and due to construction work next door, dust and paint chips got everywhere.

Liked: The staff are able to assist you to find whatever you need locally, Fatama especially is an angel. The tours they organise are only the value for money ones so ask them. PS They don't expect it but don't forget to leave a tip because they deserve it.
