Liked: A sweet, gentle and friendly dog called Cooby makes you feel homely. Remember to turn lights out for him in the tv lounge at. night to sleep nicely. Country like feel yet close to the city. (having our own transport). Good diversity of travellers and locals. Nice braai ing under a shady tree in spacious yard. Secure parking locked in enclosed yard. A true reflection of SA. Well managed with all important basics being fulfilled.

Disliked: Something needs to be done about flies in kitchen although clean. Some people don't clean after themselves.

Liked: An incredibly rich exposure to daily life in Cape Town. The Pinelands offer a range of Captonian lifestyle and not too far from the City Bowl. The owners are gratious and concious and harvesting community through heart. Go there. Open mind, open heart.

Disliked: The safety issues of living close to poverty is a daily struggle for some, for me it was novel, at times difficult but overall an immensly important experience to get even the smallest taste of. Fear can be healthy, particulary when every thing works out fine in the end.

Liked: only stayed 1 night,but we were picked up from the airport no problem and had a pleasant stay,friendly welcome

Liked: Good value for money, nice local cafe friendly residents/staff.

Disliked: You need a car to stay hear, area appears run down on arrival but under closer scrutiny area not that bad. Check activity prices before booking through hostel.

Liked: Nice hostel with real friendly lady running it. But due to location next to special project for cheap housing not so safe neighbourhood. We didn't experience any trouble but were told to be very careful around there wich left us feeling a bit insecure about the place.

Liked: I really liked this place for the people working there. They are so nice and helpful. Also, the people living there are great. The place itself could use a little upgrade, but it's still acceptable considering the price. The location has its pros and cons. The pros are that it is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and it's so close to the Table mountain. Also there is a good grocery store and restaurants at a walking distance. The con is that it is far from the city, but there is a train station really close by. The train takes only a few minutes to the city center. All in all, I would stay there again, for sure!

Liked: it was very friendly and had a nice 'family' atmosphere, things were clean and simple. good size comunal areas. but no other backbackers, and no-one else our age, and the only down side was small children staying there. but none-the-less, a great 'first place' and excellent value for $.
