Liked: Best price you find for a guest house, no noise, clean, good access to the kitchen, refrigerators etc, friendly stuff, great people, if I have to come back to cape town, I would choose Zebra without searching for something else.

Disliked: everything it was OK.

Liked: Staff were really helpful and it was in a great location within easy walking distance to everything. Had everything that we needed, and my dad (who is 60) enjoyed it even though it's not his usual type of accommodation.

Disliked: My ONLY issue with the accommodation (and it's a minor one) was that our bedroom was upstairs from the bathroom, which was a bit of a pain with a 60 year old dad!

Disliked: My room(single) is at another side of the hostel. There was no proper lighting except for a small lamp, which is not working very well. the door of the lounge was not easy to open, when it's fully closed. It hindered your way to toilets in the morning. There was no hot water in the morning until 8am, but no one told you that. The wifi is only limited to one side of the property. It is highly unstable. I was not able to deal with an important email from 10 pm to 8,30am because of the unstable wifi. The laundry line is terribly designed and you can't dry your clothes properly. One of the staff is not friendly.

Liked: I love this hostel - one of the nicest that I have stayed in. Great service, and spotlessly clean throughout. Seven showers, and plenty of toilets. Excellent guest kitchen with plenty of fridge space. Laundry facilities. A TV lounge and a separate quiet lounge. Free wifi. Brilliant on-site restaurant. Views of Table Mountain.

Disliked: Dorm room has no personal lockers, and car parking not secure, though there is secure parking nearby.

Liked: Clean, quiet, just 10 minute walk to the Gardens, 5-minute walk to Red Tourist bus stop #12. Although the room and shower were very basic (my single room included a bed and a bedside table with a lamp and a heater, plus 1 chair), but this conveyet the atmosphere of Africa back in 1960's. Also, everything was SUPER CLEAN - the room, courtyard, common kitchen, living rooms and bathrooms - super clean. For 170 Rand - the best value! Stacy was SUPER HELPFUL!!! Fast and FREE Wi-Fi!

Disliked: My room on the 1st floor had no view. Actually, there is no view out of anywhere in the common areas. I have not been on the 2nd floor, though. Again - if you come to a hostel to spend several nights - that's more than enough.

Liked: As I rated, concerning safety and quiet atmosphere, it is definitely very good.

Disliked: I changed my room from a 8-bed dorm to a double-bed room, that room was a little damp, and quilt was not as clean as my standard, and it was too simple to have only one bed and one basin inside.

Liked: Reasonably handy to town, pretty good facilities such as a small cafe, nice gardens etc., plenty of bathrooms and showers and helpful staff

Disliked: A bit on the noisy side due to surrounding roads and dining area being in a quad surrounded by the rooms. Other than that, all good.

Liked: On arrival a clearly marked 'map' to our room had been pinned to the front door. The communal areas of the hostel were brightly coloured, leafy and appeared to be a good place to meet fellow travellers.

Disliked: We arrived into Cape Town around Midnight and walked from Long Street to Zebra Crossing Lodge. We found that we had to walk along several darkened streets which was a bit intimidating for new arrivals. Although clean, the rooms were characterless and very basic. The bed sheets had rips in them. Having arrived late after a long journey we were hoping to have a good lie in the next morning. A lot of the rooms are situated around courtyards and unfortunately we were woken around 7 by people congregating here. In conclusion I think that if you wanted to meet fellow travellers and were on a longer, backpacking trip and weren't bothered about creature comforts this place would be fine. However, we were on a short holiday and wanted somewhere to crash in the evening where we felt relaxed. We had booked 10 days here but ended up moving to the 2 Oceans backpacker hostel on Long Street. It was the same price and really clean and fresh....would definitely reccommend!

Liked: Not too far from Long Street, and generally feels secure, though the individual rooms have poor locks. Not a mass of atmosphere but comfortable enough and plenty of communal areas to meet other people.

Disliked: The kitchen was quite scruffy and everything was very 'used' - not a single knife in the place with a sharp edge.

Liked: there's a homey feeling in the lodge. One feels safe and there the staff is very accommodating.

Liked: Clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. The owner of the cafe inside the hostel is nice. Location is great, near Park St and Long St, you can always find good restaurants there.

Disliked: Only half of the hostel area has wi-fi. Have to use the internet in the public space.

Liked: The staff is amazing! Near of restaurants and other facilities. The night clubs are at walking distance. The view is amazing also. You wake up facing the table moutain!

Liked: Great Location just off Kloog/Long Street, so its a little calmer and less loud than other places on Long St. Nearby Grocer for food needs. Visited during the WC 2010 when it was a bit cold (winter), but can imagine the place is even better in the summer.

Liked: There is a nice bar and livingroom. Kitchen is also quite ok. The walking distance to Longstreet is quite ok, after dark however, you should not walk back alone.
