Public transport is not very good in Cape Town. The best way from the airport is with a shuttle bus either booked on arrival at the airport or preferably booked in advance. The company we use is reliable and reasonable (R170 for one pax, R200 for 2 etc.) Zebra Crossing is approximately 20-30 minutes drive from the airport. A metered taxi from the airport costs around R200 as do most shuttles. The train and bus station are situated adjacent one another in the city and again the only public transport is mini-bus taxis. Although they are cheap, they are not necessarily safe for someone who has just arrived and is carrying luggage so we recommend a metered taxi (obtainable at the bus and train station) which will cost around R35 and take around 5 minutes. Another alternative is called a Rikki which is an open taxi and drops and collects others on the way and will cost around R20 per person. They operate 7 days a week till late. Depending on how busy they are, they may take a long time to arrive. We suggest potential guests contact us for directions. By car, coming in on the N1 and N2, past the harbour to the traffic lights (says right to the Waterfront). Don’t turn right but continue straight up Buitengracht Street through 6 sets of traffic lights after which the road dips to the left and becomes New Church Street. We are 50 metres along on the right, no. 82. Look for the zebra stripes on the wall and park next door.
