Liked: It is a very nice, modern building, our room was big and comfortable.

Disliked: The problem was that on one of the websites (not on HostelBookers) there was written that it is wheelchair accesible - IT IS NOT! We were with one person using a wheelchair and at premises we found out that the room we booked is on the top floor (the 3rd) and there is no lift.. What is more there was nobody at the reception when we came (at 17), so we had a stroll and came back at 21 and again we had to wait for somebody to check in for about 20min. There was just one person at the reception and dealing with airport transfers..

Liked: In a quiet neighbourhood away from noise.

Disliked: We didn't get our 'free' pick up. from the station. We didn't get the promised ride to the train station either, so we missed our train to Budapest. The owner is not around enough and expects guests to wait for him while he always is running late. He juggles this hostel with the original simbol hostel, now called H2ostel in town. He also lost our reservation but luckily there was a room free. This Simbol is student accomodation in the academic year. It is not a genuine hostel as such. There is no communal area, no written information available and the non-english speaking staff are unfriendly. The building is sterile and without character and the rooms are sparsely furnished. There is faulty plumbing and some electrical wires hanging from walls. The shower water only stays on for 20 seconds at a time, like at the swimming baths. Inadequate cooking equipment. It is a 20 minute walk from the centre. We later stayed one night at the Celica (cells) hostel, which is amazing value compared to simbol; cheaper, breakfast included, characterful building, friendly staff, bar, restaurant and communal areas, closer to train/bus station and centre Go there instead!

Liked: didn't really like anything

Disliked: the place is not clean and the building is not even finished. light bulbs are simply connected on the cables... some cables just stick out the ceiling, the place is not finished, looks nice from the outside but I think one should not open an hostel before the building is totaly done.

Liked: The rooms have kitchen and its door to door with the supermarket!

Liked: We were originally staying at Simbol Hostel, some residential place which is pretty inaccessible for backpackers like us who didn't have a car. The place however was very nice, like a hotel. Comfortable bed and a private kitchen.The staffs were really nice, other than picking us up from the train station and giving us a short introduction on Ljubljana, he offered to switch us to the other hostel which is near to the city centre. It was a comfortable stay as well. An apartment with shared kitchen, it was a great place to get to know people. Highly recommended!

Liked: Friendly staff. Gave us a lift to the city centre :)

Disliked: about 15 minutes by foot from the city centre, however, there are pretty cheap taxis.

Liked: Free wi-fi, kitchen

Disliked: The email the hostel sends containing directions are completely wrong. They sent us to the wrong bus stop and we had to wander around trying to find it in a rainstorm for half an hour. They advised to get on a bus that doesn't even stop at the stop they say to get off at. The location is bad. It's far from the centre and 10 minutes to the bus stop. The floor in our room was filthy.

Liked: Stuff was very helpful and friendly. Safe and secure place. Free parking in front of Hostel. PC with internet conection. Very clean. Supermarket oposit. I would recommend it to anyone.

Liked: Very clean. Apartment style rooms with kitchens- so you don't have to queue to make food. Good for travelers and families. Bike hire 4 euros for the whole day. Supermarket right outside.

Disliked: Only one computer for guests.

Liked: They have the possibility to do your laundry for a fair price.

Disliked: The owner was hard to find at points (both checking in as checking out) and for the shower you had to press a button all the time (like the ones you find in swimming pools).

Liked: The location was a ten minute walk to the city centre and opposite the supermarket. The facilties were great and so was the security and cleanliness of the hostel.

Disliked: We had to wait for over an hour to be collected from the station, which was inclusive of our stay, which wouldnt of being so bad, if it was 2am.

Liked: Two of my friends and me have stayed in Simbol hostel for three nights during June 2010 . This hostel is better than some "hotels" that I have stayed in. Hostel is very clean and secure and with video surveillance. Our room was spacious and with big bathroom, A/C, microwave, fridge and kitchen. Stuff was very helpful and friendly. Location is quite good and in a quiet neighborhood 20 minutes walking distance from city center and 5 minutes by car. I will definitely stay in this hostel next time I visit Ljubljana and would recommend to anyone.

Liked: Strange hostel really. It was very quiet so it took a little while to check in but the place is new and really decked out well. Kitchen is great, as is the free washing and internet. A little bit out of the city but its an easy walk in so it didnt bother me one bit. I only saw the manager once or twice as staff were a bit light on but he was REALLY good in suggesting things and helping out. If the place was jam packed and a permanent staff member there it would be one of the best hostels to stay in

Liked: Staff friendly and very helpful, will pick you up from the train/bus for no extra charge if you call when you arrive. Keen to help with further arrangements, trips, booking hire cars etc. Free washing machine!Very happy with our stay.

Liked: The room we had was a private double and was warm and clean - really liked the thermostat heating. There was only one bathroom and toilet though to share between 5 rooms (about 14 people) which we thought was not so good. Also the drain smelled a bit funny and the internet did not work (we were in a building separate from where the reception is but it was just a few doors down on the same street). Also, they were doing a lot of refurbishment which is fine but the workmen always left the main door open which meant all the common areas were quite cold and it didn;t feel as secure. Still, it was pretty good value for money and was ina really good location.
