About The Ginger Monkey
We are a small hostel with small dorms with a very social atmosphere, you will leave us having felt you have been back at home hanging out with good friends.
Locally there are a plethora of activities, in the winter there is skiing / snowboarding within walking distance, ice hockey, trekking, caving, walking our dog 'wally' and in the summer there is even more trekking, paint balling, cycling, climbing, skydivng and loads more. If this sounds to energetic you can simply chill out in the lounge read a book or gaze at the mountains whilst drinking tea. We have restaurants and bars close by so you can get your Slovakian food and beer fix no problem, at a very reasonable price.
Continuing on from Poprad gives you loads of choices for destinations as you can catch a train directly to Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Kosice (and then Krakow), and Munich. We have traveled around these places and can offer information advice and timetables for any onward journeys
We have warm and inviting common areas where you will meet like minded travelers who were searching for and have found the perfect place to take a break for a few days from big city chaos and recharge the batteries.
Breakfast is set every morning and depending on who is setting you might even get a freshly baked cake.
All our dorm rooms are small with a maximum of 5 guests.
We are in the small village of Zdiar. There is loads of hiking right from the entrance, we have all the information you need and maps if you want them. There is a long list of activities including, mountain biking, paint balling, rafting, bungee jumping, walking the dogs Wally and Django, and many more day trips including local caves, castles and Unesco towns. We have all the information and will tell you all about them when you get here.
