Overview

The Ginger Monkey was established in 2007 by Jimbo and Richie after many epic journey's around the world. Between them they stayed in many hostels, guest houses, cabins, tents and the odd occasion a cave. When the Ginger Monkey Hostel was created they tried to take as many of the positive attributes they could from their previous accommodations and implement them in as many ways they could.
The views from the hostel are as good as any in Europe. Read more

About The Ginger Monkey

Nestled in behind the village church in the mountainous town of Zdiar in the High Tatras the Ginger Monkey Hostel really does have the perfect location to suit most peoples tastes.
We are a small hostel with small dorms with a very social atmosphere, you will leave us having felt you have been back at home hanging out with good friends.

Locally there are a plethora of activities, in the winter there is skiing / snowboarding within walking distance, ice hockey, trekking, caving, walking our dog 'wally' and in the summer there is even more trekking, paint balling, cycling, climbing, skydivng and loads more. If this sounds to energetic you can simply chill out in the lounge read a book or gaze at the mountains whilst drinking tea. We have restaurants and bars close by so you can get your Slovakian food and beer fix no problem, at a very reasonable price.

Continuing on from Poprad gives you loads of choices for destinations as you can catch a train directly to Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Kosice (and then Krakow), and Munich. We have traveled around these places and can offer information advice and timetables for any onward journeys

Accommodation Information

We have warm and inviting common areas where you will meet like minded travelers who were searching for and have found the perfect place to take a break for a few days from big city chaos and recharge the batteries.

Breakfast is set every morning and depending on who is setting you might even get a freshly baked cake.

All our dorm rooms are small with a maximum of 5 guests.
