Customer reviewThere are 2 Summer Tavern's - One's a hostel, one's a 'hotel'. I stayed at the hotel, which has only been opened 3 months - There were a number of things I disliked, especially considering the heafty price per night. I am normally not fussy at all, but as I was paying over £50 a night to stay here, I was so incredibly let down. The good points were: -Absolutely fantastic location - 1minute walk, if not less to the MRT and less than 5 min walk through a shopping center to the center of the Clarke Quay restaurants/bars/clubs and riverside -The staff are really friendly -The shared bathroom was very new and always clean. However the bad points: -The breakfast is 2 pieces of toast (3 if you get real lucky), cold and wrapped in clingfilm, with a packet of butter and apple jam. Oh, don't forget the bananna and packet mix coffee. -Single room was incredibly tiny. Literally a box. I saw some of the double rooms whilst cleaning and they're not much bigger. -My view was a brick wall. -Building works next door from 8am - 6pm (unless it rained) literally shook my entire room. -No Wi-Fi unlike all the hostel's I've stayed in, so for a hotel it was a total let down. Although they did give me a half meter internet cable. Nice, but ridiculous when across the road in the hostel there's wi-fi and you're paying a tonne more. -My sheets were changed once in the 5 nights I was there. -The complimentary moisturiser, shower gel etc, were half used when I arrived. Which was kind of gross. -The carpets were stained, dirty or mouldy I dont' know. I didn't want to know. But considering it's less than 6 months old this confused me. Overall great location and great staff, but if you're going to book summer tavern, go with the hostel. The hotel is essentially a shoddy glorified hostel with overpriced private rooms. |
