Liked: It really felt welcome and the staff was super helpfull, Clean facilites and comfort beds and lockers in the room. It was close to the beach adn had a nice little bar just underneath.

Disliked: If you are in Singapore for more then 2 days you should definitely stay here for a few nights. But if you are here only for one night you miss sometime by taking the bus. It takes about 20-30 mins. But it is good bus contections.

Liked: The member of staff who served me was very friendly and helpful. She told me how to get about the city on the MRT as well as the best sites I could visit on my last day with limited time available. The room was very spacious for a hostel, however, I did stay in a double private room.

Disliked: The safe deposit box in the room was not operational, so I had to carry my atm card and passport with me all day. The shower room was very busy in the morning, however, many people were checking out at the same time.

Liked: Property was clean, staff were friendly, the double room was very comfy.

Disliked: A bit far from MRT station and it was quite small.

Liked: Pretty clean. Helpful staff. 30% discount at the downstairs bar which had very good food. Lot of other good restauraunts in the area (especially Khmer Delight and Thai Express). Near a bus stop. Free towels.

Disliked: Had trouble finding the place. I didn't come from the airport, came from opposite way from a different hostel in the city and there were no directions for this, and no one answered the phone when I called for help. Location isn't that convenient in relation to the city, takes about 30 mins by bus to get into the city center. Bathrooms and showers are fairly clean, but since they're both in the same room, the floors are always wet, which is annoying because they make you take off your shoes when you're in the hostel. I had a "private" room with my girlfriend, but it was right in the hallway and you could hear out what was going on in the rest of the hostel, also there were no windows in this room.

Liked: Brilliant place to stay at unbelievable value. Chris, David & April are really great people, very friendly and helpful thank you so much. I stayed at the Fern Loft to compete in the Singapore Ironman 70.3 and did a 5:18min time. Really great AC in the rooms and a great value bar and restaurant below the hostel. Beside the buses that run into town every 10 mins and near the awesome beaches. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Disliked: Any stairs after the Ironman lol

Liked: The property was lovely, we had a double room which was very comfortable, the facilities were good - breakfast, laundry, kitchen, wi fi and staff were very friendly. Location is good for airport.

Disliked: The hostel is a long way out of central Singapore but is a great location for the airport and beach.

Liked: When available, most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The hostel appeared much nicer online than it actually was, the bathroom floors were perpetually wet, which is a problem when you cant wear shoes in the hostel. It was very small, and consisted of families with small children rather than backpackers.

Liked: Fern Loft backpackers is a good hostel. It is a small hostel with only a few guests, giving it a nice but subdued atmosphere. The staff there were really helpful and very informative and they also give you a very useful list of all the major sights in Singapore and which bus to take from just outside the hostel. If you need to switch buses, the list tells you which bus stop to get off at and then which bus to switch to and where to get off. The hostel was clean enough, but there was ants (very small ones though, but it is a humid climate and it cannot be helped) crawling around the kitchen and there was a cat hanging around outside. Usual facilities; kitchen (although no fridge), free washing, free breakfast and free internet (although only 1 computer). Due to it being a small hostel, getting to know other travellers is quite easy. For the price that Fern Loft charges, this is a good hostel, even if it is a bit out of the way, the area that it is in is quite pleasant.

Disliked: The hostel is far away from the city centre. It is halfway between the city and the airport. It does have a bus stop just outside which goes to all the major sights and the price is quite fair, $2 gets you around 20km. I was given no key for the room and the girls had to come through the mens dorm to get to their dorm. Lockers are also in the room, but you have to use your own lock. By the way, the map for this hostel on hostelbookers is wrong, USE THE DIRECTIONS ONLY. I had a nightmare turning up at the wrong place and then having to walk nearly 2km with a heavy backpack in very warm temperatures - not good.

Liked: The staff were amazingly helpful and took the time to answer our questions no matter how big or small or frequent! The place was very clean and within a few minutes I felt at home! I Would definitely stay there again!

Disliked: It's not very central but doesn't claim to be. The bus links are so good though it's still easy enough to get around! Something we also got help with from the staff who Kindly provided a cheat sheet on how to get to all popular sites!

Liked: it's very cozy and clean, the beds are very comfortable, it's near to the airport - just 5 mins to walk to the bus and you can get directly to the airport

Disliked: the bar downstairs is very expensive - but i think this are normal prices for singapore (beer: 9 $, but you get 15 % off)

Liked: all of above...stayed twice..and would definitely say again!! loved hangin out on the porch..the clean cool (ac) beds and the best location....management lots of great advice as to resturants and places to go..

Disliked: concerned with only 1 bathroom...but never seemed to be a problem....

Liked: the east coast branch of this hostel is very homely and the staff at both the east coast and little india branches (we didnt stay in the china town branch) were lovely. very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. The place was clean and the beds were comfy.

Disliked: the shower and the toilet were in the same room. This was never a problem in the little india branch as it was bigger so if the 2 toilet/showers on the floor you are staying on are full there are more in the property but in the east coast branch there were only 2 because the hostel is small. Every morning when i tried to go to the toilet people were using the shower which meant having to wait outside for 10 minutes. it got pretty annoying.

Liked: A quick taxi ride to airport at 5.30am, meals at restaurant downstairs were handy to have so close a/cond in the room was good.

Disliked: To get to the female dorm you had to walk thru the male dorm (bad luck if they were getting dressed), there were 2 toilets in the bathrooms with 2 showers so you had to wait a long time to use them, it was hard to find after getting off the bus.

Liked: Loved it.

Disliked: The only downside--I would have to say is that it is far away from the center of town. But my guess is that it was made up by better facilities. All you have to do is ask at the desk what bus to take to where you are going and they will be able to help--not a big deal. While I was there it was pretty much 1.60 Singapore Dollars to everywhere by bus...

Liked: Good value for Singapor stay close to airport! Helpful staff! In walking distance to the coast.

Disliked: Room without windows. Bathroom smelled of urine. Check-in in the morning was not easy because nobody was there. After we waited 2-3 hours we finally managed.

Liked: Close to the airport, if you need to take a taxi. Good breakfast for a hostel.

Disliked: Far from MRT. No staff to check you out, for check in you must go and beg them to come up from the bar downstairs. Anyone could walk in to the hostel and to the rooms (e.g no staff guard, or door to the hostel, or locks).

Disliked: There was a misunderstanding between two girls about the beds, this was discussed in the dorm about 12 o'clock at night while there was someone of the hostel with them, I would have liked that it was discussed out side the room.
