Liked: Good location, drying room is a bonus, really warm hostel (if not a little too warm!), key code lock pads on rooms

Disliked: Could do with a spring clean, hot water appeared to have been turned off early on morning of depature so no shower before travelling! Front door doesnt lock so hostel is left open, although rooms do lock, advertised as a twin room which turned out to be a triple with one set of bunk beds.

Disliked: unclean with old spiders webs. rats/mice in walls kept me awake scratching. was more of a workers hostel.

Liked: I liked the landscape around Newtonmore and the hostel was easy to find.

Disliked: The facilities, especially the kitchen were very dirty. The matresses were old and there was a unpleasent smell in the whole house.

Liked: The open coal fire was very welcome (we didn't think we'd have to use it in July!!)

Disliked: As motorbikers who were soaking wet, we needed to dry our clothes and baggage. We ended up draping these over a hanging rail which meant that they dripped onto one of the settees. The furniture had definitely seen better days. The kitchen was very basic as was the bathroom. The whole place needs a complete overhaul - don't know about the main hostel as we didn't go in.

Liked: The place was alright. The owner was nice, and the kitchen was pretty good. And the place was quite clean.

Disliked: The common room was far too small. We were 11 staying at the hostel, but when more that 6 were in there, it started to be too crowded. Finally, there is only one shower, which can be annoying if there are too many people.

Liked: I loved this hostel. It has a very friendly, cosy atmosphere. The fireplace was really nice and it was a treat to have a drying room for laundry.

Disliked: Reception was quite disorganized. Also, book directly with the hostel. They give you cheaper rates than HostelBookers does.

Disliked: It was a bit bizarre as there was no one to let us in and show us around because the owner was away and we had to leave the money in the letterbox - a telephone call prior to us arriving would have made this all easier

Liked: As we were in Newtonmore for golf week, proximity to the course was absolutely perfect, only 2 minutes walk. Made to feel very welcome by the owners and staff.
