Liked: Having never stayed in a hostel before I found it was like being back at uni, living in halls. Met some very friendly people, especially the staff who were all travelers themselves. Colorful decoration, made to feel welcome, free tea and coffee. General good atmosphere. Staff are also really knowledgeable about the area and advise the best places to visit. Oh and the location is literally just after the Skye Bridge so you don't have to go far to get on and off the island.

Disliked: Erm.....the window in our room wouldn't shut properly so it was quite cold at night. That's about it really.

Liked: Location was great, there was good kitchen facilities and a good option for a cheap, basic breakfast. Laundry facilities are good and the place is pretty clean.

Disliked: Not many options for eating in the area (the food at the local pub 'Saucy Mary' not so good) and no nearby shop. Free wifi never seemed to work. The caravan was warm and comfortable, but no lock on the door and every time someone walked across the floor the whole thing shook. Fine if your sleeping hours are synchronised with your 7 room mates.... Showers not great. If you stay on a Sunday don't expect to go far on the bus!!

Disliked: I think this hostel should provide lockers, when i found the hostel the door was open and i walked in and bags were near reception desk of people who left there bags there and no one was around. Not till 5pm check in time. Anyone could walk in and pick your bag up. no lock on caravan door And no place to put your trousers or wallet while in shower, so had to leave outside on the floor, and have door open to a point so I could check on my wallet was still there.

Liked: Stayed in the caravan out the back, which was surprisingly good. Had a good atmosphere with a bunch of us getting into a good conversation in the caravan one morning. Free wifi is always good - especially when in a relatively remote area. Also, there was a brilliant sunset with the Skye Bridge in the foreground providing an excellent vista.

Disliked: Possibly a little far from much of the best of the Isle of Skye. If you've only got a limited time, try to stay in Portree perhaps. No security lockers, but staff will look after valuables for you. However, the remoteness of the place makes theft far less likely I believe.

Liked: cheap.

Disliked: In the caravan there were only about 30cm between the top bed and the roof, making it very very very uncomfortable to sleep. Full of spiders everywhere. wifi not working

Liked: It's very close to Skye bridge. Easy to get there. The building structure is really amazing, you can find room in almost every corner. There are a lot of Isle information and suggested traveling plans on the kitchen board. The staffs can give you some good advice.

Disliked: The wireless is not working at all. I'm sure there's a limit number of user. That's why I was unable to connect.

Liked: Location and intimate atmosphere

Disliked: shower cubicles are not as good as a room with a few showers because there is little space. I didn't like that there was no lock at all for the room I stayed in (outside). The kitchen got extremely crowded and so did the fridges.

Liked: I had a perfect stay at Skye Backpackers and felt sad on the morning of departure... The combination of the friendly people, energy, richness of colours, rooms etc. etc., it was just perfect. I hope to be back soon! It is a shame that the rating above don't allow "excellent", because that would have been my rating on every question asked.

Liked: Nice views and good location of the hostel in the first town you find in Skye Island. Clean and worth of money, only we arrived after a long journey at 22.30 at night when limit check-in is at 22.00, and the staff was a little bit pissed off of us. Anyway, i totally reccomend it!
