Liked: Location and 2 of the rooms (the ensuite ones) were just right and clean. Good price/quality.

Disliked: 2 of the other rooms, non ensuite, were absolutely bare to minimum, stains in the walls, spider webs in corners, and the overal look of the room was really poor (really not worth of 24 pounds per person per night). Also, the Pub gave the impression of lacking of care, dirty and not inviting to have a drink or meal. Staff was just OK, but not really good.

Liked: When we first entered the reception/store of the hostal we were a bit afraid b/c the area was somehow strange but later we were surprised by how clean, new and big the rooms were.

Disliked: The reception/store of the hostel was a little bit weird but the rooms were great.

Disliked: Old, stinky and rooms with thin walls so you can hear the music from the bar and all the talking that surround you.

Liked: Location especially, but Portree would have been more central and less driving.However, being almost beside the Skye Bridge had it's advantages . . . and the nice views. In our seven day stay we had the kitchen to ourselves 95% of the time, which was good because of it's small size.

Disliked: Some faulty switches in toilets and POOR water-pressure often. Water temperature in hand-basins, at it's best, was just barely lukewarm. We disliked having, a few times, other guests using their laptops outside our bedroom door, also outside bathroom doors. This activity should be stopped IMMEDIATELY.

Liked: Cheap hostel but don't expect more that you pay for it.

Disliked: Old building and paint should be redone. The private rooms are just above the pub so you ear the music in the room.

Liked: Location close to Lochalsh

Disliked: Room very noisy due to bar crowd. Inadequate bedding (no mattress cover, sheet didn't cover mattress & pillows very thin). Broken door closer. Curtains didn't cover window. Breakfast served in bar and tables hadn't been cleaned from previous night. Stunk of stale beer. No advice from staff that towels had to be hired. Place is badly run down and needs refurbishment.

Liked: Great atmosphere in the pub with a lot of local using the bar and having fun

Disliked: It is very basic which, whilst ok on this occasion, is not somewhere that I would think is suited towards families.

Liked: We had booked an ensuite room at Saucy Mary's, which we paid extra for, but were given a room out the back of the lodge in some sort of converted garage. The owner offered to compensate us by throwing in a very standard breakfast, and promising not to place people in the adjacent room sharing the bathroom (which he did anyway). Overall the staff were friendly, but we left feeling a bit ripped off. Unless you have a car, I recommend staying somewhere more central on Skye.
