About Port Charlotte Islay Youth Hostel
Port Charlotte Youth Hostel is perfectly located right beside a safe sandy beach. This charming youth hostel is situated in the village of Port Charlotte with its whitewashed cottages, numerous restaurants, eateries and tea and coffee spots. The endless beaches on Islay are sandy and deserted, while the distilleries in the area are world renowned Single Malt producers are found in breath-taking locations.
The youth hostel has wonderful sea views and good facilities and is popular with families, cyclists, walkers and independent travellers.
Along with its outstanding natural beauty Islay is also famed for its diverse and plentiful wildlife, and is home to two RSPB nature reserves. With its excellent accommodation and facilities, the youth hostel (and the attached Wildlife Centre) is an ideal base from which to explore all that Islay has to offer - along with visits to neighbouring wild Jura.
Please note: The hostel is closed 10.00-14.00hrs. From 14.00hrs the common room is open and guests who have already checked-in will have access to their rooms.
The rooms all have a sink - the shared bathroom facilities are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The self-catering kitchen is spacious and very well equipped with all you will need to prepare your meals. This and the common room both have breathtaking views across the Bay of Loch Indaal. The reception area is flooded with light from the skylights. There is a great feeling of spaciousness in the common areas.
