Liked: The twin rooms facilities with kitchen was good. the flat at hough road is quite cosy and located at a very nice place near the river. The flat was clean and properly maintained with regular cleaning.

Disliked: The main Eastgate hostel near the shopping complex looks quite cramped. The main entrance to the Hostel reception requires some face lift.

Liked: Location was great at a reasonable price, the staff could have been more helpful when we asked them on places and things to see in the area.

Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful. It had all the ameneties I needed and it was right in the centre of town.

Disliked: The bathrooms need updating and it would be better to have more to accomodate the number of guests even at half capacity. However I had been told that they are in the process of doing so.

Liked: You can't check in to this hostel until after 5pm, which can be inconvenient if you (like us) arrived before then, with no place to store luggage. When we checked in we were placed in an entirely different building down the road, which lack the convenience of the main hostel and had no internet connection. The first room we were given had not been cleaned and was absolutely disgusting. To their credit the staff apologised and changed us to the adjacent room which was much better. The house where we stayed has only one shower between four double rooms, plus live-in staff. This wasn't a problem for us, but could be a pain if all the rooms were full.

Liked: It was great! Really appreciate Mr Imtiaz's trouble to pick us and place us to our accommodation. He also offered us an en-suite at the same price that we booked just to make things easier for us. The property was amazing and we actually felt like being at home, we were given all the freedom and we would definitely like to go back and stay there or any other property that they have in the other cities!

Liked: To be fair, it's not the staff's fault (they were actually quite nice) but there were the strangest freaks in the hostel. The double beds were cool. We had to go downstairs for the showers, though.

Liked: We have been travelling for the last year consecutivly and have stayed in many hostels and hotels. Eastgate backpackers was by far one of the worst we have ever stayed in!! Check in was awful l- staff member turned us away at 14:00 after travelling for 12 hours and told us to come back at 17:00 as he didnt get paid enough to come in earlier - we didnt even have anywhere to leave our bags - we left them in the toilet!!! He was local and gave us a very bad first impression of Inverness and locals.Room was extremely small, smelt like a wet dog, linen on bed smelt stale and dirty, pillows lumpy and practically non exsistant (they must have been really well used and very old!!!), WIFI a joke, 3 showers for the whole hostel. Got woken up early by loud racket and staff vacuming etc - why they vacume at early in the morning if you only can check in at 17:00 im not sure. No atmosphere, just a really horrible hostel - a waste of money.

Liked: Great location, safety was a bit worrying because we were able to enter the hostel freely before check-in as no one was at the reception. We got a 6 person sharing room and the double bed was very old and made a lot of noise even at a simple turn of the body.

Liked: I was accomodated in a private house, it was very cold at night and fire alarm was not working properly.

Liked: Dirty room, linen probably washed after 10th use, very cold at night, fantastic location just opposite the big shopping centre if you want to get yourself a sleeping bag to spend a cosy night in your own bedding (thats what I did). Oh, and remember, prepare 10 pounds deposit which is never mentioned in the description... Never come back there.
