Liked: It locates at a very convenient site which is very close to rail station and bus station. The staff is quiet thoughtful and really nice. It's a very valued backpackers. I do recommend it to other people.

Liked: Great place, brilliant kitchen. Right near to tourist office, Train station and the bus to loch ness

Disliked: Weird enterance with half built returant and rooms in that part. No laundry facilities.

Liked: It was right by the bust/train station in the city centre

Disliked: The shower drains were clogged, so water collected whenever the shower turned on. We weren't provided with towels and reception was rarely open, so I had to dry off with a sheet.

Liked: to be quiet honest: nothing. as we were accomodated in another facility of the eastgate backpackers (? ) Haugh Road 17: there's nothing to say about the eastgate hostel itself... Beds were ok (slept two in a 3-person-room), short way to city (2 min, visit Johnny Foxes Pub & Restaurant for great Nightlife and food - also jimmy chungs directly on top direct at Ness), quiet until traffic starts growing (sep. 2010 about 8:30), 1 min walk to ness river and near parks & city (walk can start at riverside), close to the tourist information center and bureau de change and banks

Disliked: as we were accomodated in another facility of the eastgate backpackers (? ) Haugh Road 17: first but not least we had to pay 10 pounds more than confirmed in our booking... cleanliness was really bad and the fridge was so nasty you couldn't put anything in eccept canned stuff..., got cleaned after two days of our stay. guy lives in a tiny room divided from the living room (yeah, really), we had a stockbed (3 ppl) and a litter basket. No view... If the property would be taken care of, it would be a nice place to stay because of its excellent location. SAD ;( Eastgate Hostel;: just first impressions like staff is friendly to bored, cleanliness and safety could be better... nice little place if you are backpackers and used to these places, really in the city, trains/bus staion 3-5 mins walk, parking place-> cheap longstay at busstation (info from tourist i-center!!!)

Liked: central locationfacilities were really goodemployees really friendly

Disliked: it needed a bar to liven it up a little there were several others who were given a really rough deal by management whilst I was there. Basically the hostel stuffed their booking and the manager did not attempt to sort the problem or refund any of their money..

Liked: Pretty cheap and on the best location possible. Great value for money.

Disliked: Weird staff, small rooms.

Liked: Right in the centre of the city.

Disliked: My bed got remade when I was staying the next night and one item of clothing went missing in the process. No lockers and things that the staff were looking after just seemed to get put in the office, which wasn't always occupied (i.e when staff were showing new arrivals around). The two members of staffs I talked to also had limited English, which meant I found it difficult to explain that an item of clothing had gone missing.

Disliked: The kitchen was poorly equipped, difficult to make any decent food. The wastebin was not emptied every day and it smelled. Even though the price of the stay was low I expected a higher standard. I think you can expect at least some standard.

Liked: Good location, cooking facilities and it was a small hostel so kitchen, shower, bathroom usually available. Common area was good, as it was small and everyone sat together for the football. Meant it was a good place to meet other travellers. Staff were very helpful. We arrived during the time when the reception desk was closed, and they let us check in anyway.

Disliked: There was a funny smell in our room, so we were wary of how clean it was. It was really muggy inside, no real airflow, so sometimes it was ard to breathe.
