Liked: simple basic and everyone ,whether it was staff or other backpackers were very friendly .i had a great experience

Disliked: i could not come back after my Loch Ness run and use the facilities....

Liked: Highlander Hostel was cheap and the location was ideal for all the city centre amenities.

Disliked: No real character, rooms seemed a little dilapadated, not all of the showers were unlocked in the mornings so there was an unnecessary wait.

Disliked: Not the cleanest or nicest looking place and the doors to the rooms don't lock. BUt if you don't mind that stuff and you want somewhere cheap in Inverness then it is OK

Liked: Location Friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: The beds were very squeaky. The mattresses were very worn, lumpy and dirty looking The showers were not well cleaned (drains blocked by hair)

Liked: kitchen, meet good people and quite and confortable ambient.

Disliked: something like breakfast and hairdryer are not avaiable, and they said thecontrary on the web site

Liked: The only redeeming quality for this property is the location.

Disliked: The staff was very unhelpful, there were not enough washrooms or showers for the number of people so always lined up, washrooms were always dirty, rooms were very small, it is located above a Lush store and the stink permeates through the entire building, the 10% service charge to pay by credit card is absolute piracy considering the card provider only charges up to 1%. Even though it is cheap it is not worth the price.

Liked: Right in the middle of the visiting area. Its a 7 minutes Walk from the bus station.

Disliked: Wifi connection was not working in the rooms. Its mustly a place to sleep... Dont think you will meet new people to party with. Rooms are on 2 or 3 floors, backpackers be ready for some exercices! Rooms are a little small to welcome as many beds... Still ok to sleep a night or two

Liked: the kitchen is roomy, good for self-catering

Disliked: crammed, the common room is very noisy (mostly due to behaviour of the staff; e.g. very loud radio music which is really annoying after some time); staff is rude and inconsiderate; there are not enough facilities like showers and toilets, and these are often unclean

Liked: Staff seemed very unorganised. They often popped into our room to ask if there were any spare beds. Shouldn't they have a note of what beds are available already???

Disliked: Stairs are a bit scary.

Disliked: We booked an 8 dorm paying the asking price for an 8 dorm, but they put us in a dorm with 16 people. Dirty.

Liked: location, nothing else

Disliked: the guy on reception was friendly but from appearence he surely was not over 15. If you wanted to pay by credit card they take 10 percent more from the price, this fact was not mentioned on tneir website. We booked 4 bed dorm but there was no more free so they gave us without mention in to five bed dorm where someone already was we were travelling in group of 2 males and 2 females so this fact was not acceptabel. By the way they do not have on their website that they have 5 bed dorm. As the solution they gave us some other dorm in other house in their use, but this was real disaster

Liked: Location, when we found it, was good, right in the centre of the city, shops, pubs, cafes all very close by. Unfortunately a lot of things put us right off the place. By all means stay here if you can put up with the crap. Large common room was good (except for the internet games on high volume through the loud speakers). Kitchen was good, but a bit small. (Refrigerator too small)

Disliked: Stated they were right beside the main bus terminal - NO THEY WEREN'T. We got off the bus thinking we were at the wrong station. Chose the hostel because of location (we had heavy packs and didn't want to walk far). Map shows correct location but unless you zoom in you don't realise the bus station is a few blocks away. Luckily plenty of town maps around to refer to on the streets. Wanted to pay by DEBIT card and was told there was a 10% surcharge on any card payment, debit or credit, because of bank fees, RUBBISH! No such fees on DEBIT cards, and credit cards pay 3% max. Blatant rip off. No (working) blind over skylight, so room was very light (long daylight hours). A lot of noise from the street, we had to open the windows to cool the room, so a bit difficult to sleep. Room VERY cramped with 8 beds in it. A bit grubby in places, especially the shower curtain, but other than that was not too bad. Three pounds/hour for internet unless you had wi-fi, which was free when it was working. For some reason the computer at reception was hooked up to speakers in the common room, and volume was right up. (Some) staff played internet games (Duke Nukem??) and a few guests were offended at the bad language, most of us annoyed at the high volume. Complaints made, got told it was the way it was set up, and no attempt to disconnect the speakers made.
