Liked: Cheap. And right in the centre of Inverness. Nice staff and huge common room to hang out at night.

Disliked: Too hot and too dirty... I went in July and the heaters were all on. The windows couldn't be closed at night so we heard the drunk local rugby team have lots of fun until 5AM... Not that I am not used to cheap hostels, but this one has to make serious improvement for the dorm! Like closing windows?? If you go, book a room, or go to sleep lately.

Liked: We had a friendly welcome...but it seemed more about trying to impress us in order for us to give the hostel a good review (after the welcome 'speech' we were told to "write nice things" on HostelBookers' website) rather than genuine friendliness. The hostel was in a good location despite not being as close to the bus station as initially described.

Disliked: It wasn't that clean and it was full of older men. We booked into a 16 bed mixed dorm, so obviously expected and didn't mind sharing with guys, but as a group of three girls in our early 20s we felt intimidated when put in a room with ten older men and no other girls at all.

Liked: The location is great, very near the castle and information center, located in the city center, you can go any where you want easily, the staff is helpful and funny, kitchen is large and clean, activity room is large and internet is wireless and free, love the place to meet new friends!

Disliked: The bed is not stable and sometimes shaky. The color of the bed sheet is boring.

Liked: It was very cheap.

Disliked: Floor is not level. Leaning to one side. Stairs are the same. Very noisy! Noise until 4am makes it impossible to sleep.

Liked: if you've brought your own travellock, you could lock up your luggage.

Disliked: matrasses en bedlinnen looked terrible, not enough bathrooms, funghi in the showercel, guest who didn' know how to use the toilet properly. Showers leeking into kitchen below

Liked: The location is perfect! Right in the middle of the city centre yet close to the rail and bus stations. There is free wifii and the price was super cheap. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The rooms are big but not big enough for 16 beds and the bathrooms are not clean at all. Although, what can you expect from £8 per night?! :p

Liked: Free wifi, free pool, location. The owner was very nice but complained a lot about all customers.

Disliked: Everything was dirty, I realize that it is budget accommodation but this place was dreadful. The bathrooms never had toilet paper in them. The floor I don't think was ever swept and The sheets didn't fit the bed properly. Stay here a night for the price but I don't recommend long term stay, it's really not worth it.

Disliked: When we arrived, our room was not yet cleaned - full of dust, an old damaged TV and cupboard where put in the middle of the room so it all seemed like a storing room. After the first night, we went out for a sightseeing tour and when we came back in the evening, we found out that our room (very very very)* probably was searched for valuables. ( YOU HAVE TO THINK OF US TWO AS THE ONLY PERSONS IN THAT ROOM, NO OTHER GUESTS SO NO ONE ELSE THEN THE STUFF TO BLAIM!) When talking to the desk stuff (who actually was very friendly) we were told to talk to the owner. So we did via phone (he didn't feel obliged to talk to us personally) and were told that the room wasn't searched but only cleaned. In fact, it was cleaned (why didn't they clean the room BEFORE we arrived???) but you dont have to open luggage (and leave the zip in a different position we did - so we noticed firstly) or even change matresses and pyjamas from top to bottom bunk to clean the room (secondly) - but to (very very very)* probably look for stuff under the matresses! That's what we told the owner, and that we didn't feel save and comfortable anymore at his hostel. We wanted to leave immediatly and get back our money for the outstanding nights. Suddenly he changed dramatically in behaving - he began talking very short-tempered to us. Whe said we could also call the police to collect the circumstances (which we didn't want to do because we were frightened and also on holiday to RELAX, not do deal with the police!). This was when the owner totally got out of control: he yelled at us, said, we can stay one more night (it got really late by this time) but than have to leave immediatly or HE WILL CALL THE POLICE to make us leave!!! Finally, we got part of the money back (except the advanced payment of 10%!!), we were shocked and totally sick of such a behaviour. Instead of taking this obvious and serious complaint for real, the owner was more concerned about his reputation, was keen to cover the whole incident and dismissed everything and even threatened us with the police (I think because of "damaging his reputation"). You see, we were on holiday and wanted to relax. We didn't want to have problems or even deal with the police because of this. Can you imagine how frightened we were? It felt like somebody stole from you or broke-in. This is also why I'm writing this so late after our stay there. I'm simply frightened. I just can't recommend this hostel to anybody - except if you attach more importance to cheap prices than to sense of well being and security. It even feels strange to visit Inverness at all again, I can't help it. The whole memory is too negative. * I'm writing it this way to protect myself legally. Unbelievable that I still feel to be obliged to do so thanks to the owner's behaviour.

Liked: Just the staff but he was a little lazy.

Disliked: The beroom was so little and disgusting. Guess it was not cleaned for over a month. The smell of the bedroom made me want to vomit. I could not use the bathroom, I had to use the mc donald's in front the hostel and I spent a day without a shower because I had no desire to enter into that pigpen.

Liked: In honesty very little...beautiful old building though.

Disliked: Noise level, broken toilet seats, vertygrubby( dirty) shower curtains. No toilet paper. Very noisy -Very very cramped- my son struggled to get into the space to climb the ladder to his bunk.
