Liked: I like staff members, their hospitality. Also the scottish breakfast, the location and all the activies are around this property.

Liked: We were given an en suite room even though we didn't book one.

Disliked: Breakfast could have been bigger but I can't eat toast or cereal.

Liked: The full scottish breakfast was really nice.It's close to the Buchanan bus station and to the city centre as well.

Disliked: We were not able to get a take away breakfast if we had to leave the guest house before 7 a.m

Disliked: this was the only property where we had to pay in advance, it was their first question.. "how are you going to pay the balance", without even showing us the rooms!

Liked: nice breakfast!! that's a tranditional english breakfast!!!!

Disliked: a little bit old...the door of room it not easy to open!!!it is a big problem!

Liked: Attentive staff. Got more TP immediately, when we ran out. Great shower! LOTS of HOT water - and the bathroom was spotless. The bed was a little lumpy, but comfortable, with enough covers for the 60degree F nights. Good breakfast. Liked dropping off key at desk when leaving. Freshly painted dining room.

Disliked: Old building, generally felt dingy. Leak from hall skylight during rain. Labrynthine hallways, due to connection of multiple apartment buildings.

Liked: The rooms were VERY clean and nice. The beds were also good. The location was peaceful but only a few minutes from the centre. There was no noises, loud music etc. at all. A very good place to sleep well.They offered also a very good breakfast with lots of choices (from eggs to cereals and youghurt and toast to bacon). Also the toilets/shower rooms were quite luxorius and clean. The lounge was comfortable and cosy - a very nice place to meet new people. The reception gave a Glagow map when arriving, which was a big plus.Out of the 4 hostels we stayed at McLays was the only one to have tea making supplies, tv and phone in the room. We also enjoyed the fact that the hostel provided towels free of charge and even 24/7 reception.

Disliked: The breakfast ended quite early, at 9 am. That's the ONLY negative thing I have to say about this hostel!

Liked: Close proximity to grab the Hop on Hop off bus. Plenty of food places 5-10mins away. Comfy bed.

Liked: The staff, the food, and the value. All top notch.

Disliked: There was a sign that advertised Internet 2 pounds for 30 min. I didn't find out that wireless was free until the last day there.

Liked: Location. Friendly staff

Disliked: The rooms were far too hot an a hot summers night. The room radiator was off but even with the window wide open at night it was far too hot. The floor in my room was very warm. I can only assume underfloor heating or the hot water pipes ran under my room. Not pleasant at all. The only other let down was what was described as a Full Scottish Breakfast which consisted of bacon, beans, egg and a tattie scone. Nae sausages or black puddin. However the food was very delicious. But the tea cups were too small. Can't hold it by the handle with my big hands. Why can't places outside of genteel tearooms just use mugs as people do at home

Liked: The room was nice and the location felt safe but the receptionist was very rude and cheeky. It was incredibly offputting and we felt very unwelcome.

Liked: to many stairs as my room was on the top floor and no assistant getting luggage to top floor, with stairs being narrow and steep
