Customer reviewThe night before our arrival, I emailed the hotel to have a driver pick us up. They obliged and sent a taxi to pick us up at the airport (30 GBP for 5 of us with 5 suitcases). The hotel is very unassuming, and the outside is extremely plain. However, it's safe as you have to be buzzed in and the front desk stares at the door. In all actuality, the entire hotel is very plain, but this is perfectly fine with us as it was very clean. I contacted the hotel directlly (again via email) and requested a room away from the front desk (I had seen on this website that people were complaining about being at the front of the hotel). The hotel responded stating that they would put us in the back of the hotel (and they did). We arrived around 1230 and our room wasn't ready as check-in wasn't until 1400; however, the other people that were traveling with us were able to check in to their rooms so we just left our luggage with our traveling companions. Our hotel room was in the "basement" of the hotel toward the back. This was perfect for us as we were away from the front desk and because the room was in the "basement" the street noise was rather quiet. The bed seemed to be new and the room was spotless. There was a tea/coffee tray that was provided as well as a hairdryer. The bathroom...what can I say other than the shower was like something out of Star Trek. It was easy to maneuver and use, and I was pretty entertained by all the different things it did. There's a bus station near the hotel ( the 747 from the airport will take you here) and the walk from Buchanan Bus Station and the train station is 10-15 minutes. King Tut's Wah Wah is about a 5 minute walk and Sauchiehall is literally right around the corner. The hotel is in a pretty good location. The first morning we woke up too early and weren't able to eat breakfast in the hotel (on Saturdays and Sundays it's served 0800-1000), but the morning of our check out we got the Full Scottish Breakfast which was pretty hearty and definitely better than a lot of the European hotel continental breakfasts I've had. The front desk was friendly enough and kept to themselves. I think they have wireless internet too. All in all, we're very pleased and definitely recommend this hotel! |
