Customer reviewHostel was okay, nothing special and no where as nice as some others. Private rooms were nice to have but very small and the en-suites were really tiny. The showers are so small you end up hitting yourself on the tap/soap dispenser while you're showering. Staff were friendly and helpful and the reception area and bar are set up nicely. The hostel has no good waste management program and no recycling bins to be seen which is really bad. Everything just has to be tossed including bottles/cans/paper. Compared to some other more eco-friendly hostels this one doesn't rate at all for environmental initiatives and its disrespect for the environment really annoyed me. SYHA hostels are generally much better in this area. The kitchen utentils are disposable and at dinner you're lucky if you can find a fork as it seems most get tossed. The fridge is packed full so don't plan on having much space to store stuff. The kitchen is okay but not looked after well and its hard to find stuff. They provide no towels to dry things and no one appears to put away the washed items (no way to dry them) so they just keep piling up until the pile falls over. The staff are not good at replacing items (paper towels, toilet paper etc) and you usually have to ask to get replaced. It does the job but it doesn't rate on my list of good hostels. I looked forward to packing up and heading somewhere helse. |

Nicola BrownLocation, that's it. Window in our room wouldn't close so got very loud at night. Asked for someone to come up to sort it, night manager came and told me it wasn't his problem and then wouldn't leave room when I asked him to. it was just me and another girl in the room and we felt very intimidated. Have used this hostel before and had no problem but will never use this place again as don't think I should have to feel threatened by staff. |

Raymond Vincent SandovalThere is no going around the fact that this is a 9-storey backpackers' hostel-even if you book a single room, you get a double-deck bed in your room. Breakfast is disappointing as only continental breakfast (cornflakes, toast, bread and jam) is provided, when many other hostels offer a full Scottish breakfast for the same rate. There is a charge for leaving your luggage (1 pound per piece). The TV in the room can only be operated if a 1 pound coin is inserted, and while you get 15 hours for this amount, the TV must remain turned on lest the remaining time be forfeited. Free WIFI access is only available in the bar-it's awkward to surf in the bar, with the noise, and tables sticky from spilled drinks, not to mention that customers are deprived tables by laptop-toting individuals. The shower in my room was terrible-one can barely fit in the cubicle, and the water control is such that the same knob controls both the water flow and the temperature. Therefore, the water only becomes warmer as you turn the knob, entailing that you get doused with cold water (as there is no space in the cubicle to avoid the initially cold water) before it gets comfortably warm. The crowd was overwhelmingly young (teenagers) when I was there. Very good location relative to Central Station, a 10 minute walk to Queen St. station. |

Alyssa MorrisGreat location close to the train station. Staff were very friendly. The only negative I would mention is that the bathroom in our private room could have been cleaner. Over all we were very happy with our stay. |

Customer reviewVery good stay. Booked accom through HostelBookers who did not offer any student discount. If I had booked direct I could have saved 15% student discount off the standard price. Discussed with hostel on arrival but they could not offer the discount retrospectivley. Other than that it was a good place to stay with great facilities and cheap bar! |

Customer reviewThe beds and the room were clean and tidy. Not much else to be said, but that counts as a big positive. Breakfast was simple but copious, the bar made a nice impression. The room was very loud, but that's to be expected. If the price is OK for you, it looks like a decent choice. |

Customer reviewIt's a clean and convenient place to stay-very close to Central station. The breakfast is really not good but it's cheap and perfect for backpackers. |
