Liked: Value for money

Disliked: Rooms were wrongly assigned, got an access key to the room where it was fully occupied. Later it was recetified Got keys which opened two rooms, not sure whether it is a feature

Liked: 24-hour checkout; clean and friendly.

Disliked: Music was too loud, couldn't hear the lady on the dedicated cab phone. Very small thing though!

Liked: It is in a very quiet district, and the facilities (two bathrooms with body foams and two toilets with toilet paper) are really good. The hostel provides pillows, bed sheets, quilts and bath towels.

Liked: Its location in the middle of the oldtown and the english breakfast at a very good price.

Disliked: The room and the beds were not really good in value for the price paid.

Liked: Very close to the historic center, nice modern building, lively bar downstairs.

Disliked: lively bar downstairs! Although sounds good, live music until 12:30 on Saturday. If you're in Edinburgh for the sights and not for the nightlife, this might not be the best place to stay in.

Disliked: Too large to establish a really frendly environment, staff not very good informed about the City

Liked: Perfectly located right in the heart of the old town, mere minutes from the Royal Mile.

Disliked: I was staying in a 12 bed dorm and there was only one working shower which may have caused some difficulty had everyone wanted to use it at once.

Liked: Smart City Hostels in Edinburgh was very clean and safe. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm, which had 2 showers, 2 sinks & 2 toilets ensuite. There was a large locker allocated for each bed. All you need is to bring your own lock. The linen was included with the price of the bed and they were clean. It was right in the center of the action and walking distance to many different restaurants, bars, etc. Staff was very nice. I would definitely stay here again!

Disliked: its too big, they need more people at the reception, they need a quiet area to go on the computer and go on skype because the bar area is way too busy

Liked: Good location, and the bar was nice and quite cheap.

Disliked: Too big hostel in my opinion, so it's kinda "cold". I personally like smaller and more home-like hostels. Internet was expensive. There was also some confusion about my booking when I checked in to the hostel. At first the receptionists didn't find details of my booking at all, and in the end I got a bed from 8 beds dorm, even though I had booked 12 beds dorm. It didn't matter in the end, though, it was just confusing. There was no linen nor towel in my bed, even though everyone else had them.

Liked: Proximity to the royal mile, good, clean facilities, good atmosphere

Disliked: Our room was next to the outside decking/bar area so we couldn't sleep when people where using this area.

Liked: Good location.. good rooms.. nice bar and atmosphere!

Disliked: not much.. it was one of the best hostels i stayed at throughout my 7 weeks of traveling

Liked: Clean rooms, busy and atmospheric bar, very good location.

Disliked: Overpriced for the size of the room; although this was during the edinburgh festival in august, so to be expected.

Liked: the equipment is good. this property even has a machine that people can recharge the phone. the machine really saved me!

Disliked: there were no enough staff in the reception so travellers have to wait for quite a long time.
