Liked: It was dry inside.

Disliked: The hostel is disgusting, broken unisex showers and bathrooms. Staff, old men, burst into the room to sweep, use an outlet without knocking. When asked at reception about being barged in on by a 50 y o man, staff replied they didn't have to knock as that it's not required of other bunkmates. Totally unhelpful, uncomfortable beds. Thankfully iy was just one night, and that was too much. High St Hostel is light years better. I will NEVER stay here again.

Liked: staff was very friendly and our bed was very comfortable

Disliked: I did not like the paper thin walls, our tiny private room, people were outside until after 4am right outside our window drunk and yelling all night.. The shower room was dirty and there was hair in the showers and sinks, I dnk how often they clean it.. Very very old floors, creaked everytime you walked on them.

Liked: Good location

Disliked: It was a bit run-down and dirty. One morning there was no water at all in the showers, and the staff members would come into the dorms early in the morning to check power sockets and ask each sleeping person if lost property belonged to them! Bizarre.

Liked: head room in lower bunks ok for me - good kitchen and living room facilities - bedroom dorm allowed sufficient space

Disliked: showers near room 18 seemed to be leaking into corridor carpet - some repairs needed to toilet doors and shower cubicles - LACK of door/wall hooks for dry clothes and towel - rate of charge for internet use at £1 for 20 mins seemed steep where as many hostels provide free access.- lack of breakfast - would have been good to be able to have drink and toast at least.

Liked: It was right on the Royal Mile, which was great! We could walk anywhere in a short amount of time. It wasn't too expensive either. We were kind of worried about staying in a room with 13 other people but it was fine. Our stuff was fine and we had no problems. The showers and bathrooms weren't gross or anything either.

Disliked: The bathrooms and showers were a little small so it made getting ready or taking a shower a little difficult but nothing too terrible. They were clean so that's all that really mattered.

Liked: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Right on royal mile. And the STAFF. super friendly and accomadating even despite our group of eight arriving an hour+ after the check-in time.

Disliked: Not very clean. Don't look inside the pillow cases or closely examine the fitted sheet. The curtains were flimsy and moldy in the small shower stalls- and would rise with the heat and touch you. eww.

Liked: Staff were friendly

Disliked: Washing machine run everynight from approx midnight continuous.. The machine was in the wall of the Room - so as you went to bed it began - Ridiculous!!

Liked: Spot on The Royal Mile, nice staff and clean.

Disliked: The temperature in the sleeping rooms was like sahara. This was the reason to keep the windows open, and this caused the noise from the street to enter the room. So bad sleeping means tiered turist....... No breakfast. If you just stay for one or two nights, you dont buy stuff to make your own.

Liked: Atmosphere is really great. This is the second time I have been here and the people are very friendly and open making it comfortable to stay there.

Liked: Hostel run in Anthony Perkins style motel. CCTV, long term stayers in the dorm rooms mixed with holiday guests and the staff themselves were the 'hole in the wall' like in the movie watching / listening for their next victim. The Spanish speaking woman receptionist did her best to keep solo travellers from speaking with other guests and even with other solo travellers. Just need some clear plastic shower curtains in the shower stalls to make the place more authentic to the movie. WEIRDly run place!
